But Charles Musgrove and Mary run off to have a dinner to meet Captain Wentworth when their child is injured and confined to his bed.
Anne: "But could you be comfortable yourself, to be spending the whole evening away from the poor boy?"
Mary: "Yes; you see his papa can, and why should not I?"
Which makes her remark earlier about her being a fond of her child so ironic... Mary is catching up to her dad in the Worst Parent category, in my opinion.
So now that we've met Captain Wentworth in this chapter, what do you all think of him?
I'm a little torn, because all the characters seem to think he's so great. But he seems to be rather unforgiving. And that comment he made about Anne, seemed kind of rude. At first I was irritated with him for being shallow and having such low standards for his future wife, but reading it again, I guess he was joking around with his sister.
