Can more than one team member read the same BOM and does it count to times?

Why would you not be able to use audiobooks for the ladder?

You build the ladder with the books you read as a team. You shelve the edition you read. You add the link of the edition you've read to the spreadsheet.

You are a team. Ask one of your team members to please steal the link to your book from your shelves to add it to the spreadsheet. That's what teams are for - to help each other out.

Rejuvenation points can only be gained in this round, so within the next 2 weeks. Either all the points you have lost or up to a maximum of 175.

Yes, of course more than one team member can read the same BOM/book. And yes, it will then count for each player who has read it.

If we never lose any points, I assume I should NOT fill in my BOM activity in the team spreadsheet?
That is, the Rejuvenation tab should only be filled in if we are "redeeming" lost BOM points?

the spreadsheet magic should be working so that you can fill in to your hearts content, but won't actually get the benefit unless you've taken damage.

I've been recording the Chipmunks BOM points, on the off-chance that excitement with TT planning (curse those kittens for tempting Sonia to tease them & then guess the theme...!) sends our reading awry.

I know some challenges have different rules regarding pages for audiobooks, like use the default or the first paperback edition. I looked but couldnt find any rules like that for this challenge.

So for this challenge, I would use the pages from the audiobook I've read and linkef to. So the audiobook Brown Girl Dreaming, (pretending that this would be a useable book) it says it has 4 pages. So we would read say a 324 page book and a 459 page book?

Edited to add that I now realize that I cant use that particular book.

Now I get what you were asking in your previous questions about using audiobooks for the ladders - you meant for linking them to the other books with regards to page count!

In that case, if you're listening to the audio version of the books, go with the page number of the default edition. If the default edition is a large print edition, then the next one on the list will be the edition you're using for page numbers.

(That is generally how we proceed in all team challenges where page counts matter.)

Is there anything else we need to do? How long should we wait? With the countdown I don't want us to be behind because of a lost player

Natasha | 1140 comments I had a question about the NPR list task. I had gone online and looked at the 2018 and 2017 NPR best books list. I wound up reading a book from the 2017 list. Should I be reading a book from a list on Goodreads and does it have to be the 2018 list? And if so, would it be from the best books of 2018 Goodreads list?

If the edition you read doesn't fit the task then you can't use the book.
Yes, there are a few, limited times when that rule is suspended (like last round's Audio narrators task) but generally that's the rule, and I didn't spot any tasks this round that might have that sort of allowance

Absolutely you can!

You'll need to be sure that the edition you read starts with an O though. it won't work if you are using the English title but read it in Gibberish

Does this mean that you have to build a separate ladder for safezone books and one for countdown books? You can't have one ladder that combines both and submit it at the end of the round?

also if there is a book that is audio only how would if use it with a ladder? for example the goodreads page says 'audio 20 pages' so would i use 2 and 0? or since it is 7 hr 19 min per audible could i use 7 and 9? or just don't use it in a ladder at all?

for audio only books: you won't be able to use it in a ladder

What the rules mean is that you can shuffle books into a ladder after you read them, so a ladder can be made up of a mix of books from countdown & safezone, but you can't build & read the ladder and then assign them to tasks. Does that clear it up?

But I also see that the discussion post for Good Omens says the book started Aug 2 and will finish Aug 31 (today). Will I still be able to post my answers to questions tomorrow and insert completion links for regeneration points tomorrow?

One of the regeneration tasks is to link books together by page count -- Book one has 354 pages, book two has 402 pages. If a book's page count ends with 0 it won't work in the chain.

COUNTDOWN STAGE - WE ARE ALMOST AT ZERO!


Remember....
We start off by shouting "The Floor is Lava! In 10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1-0!"
By the time the counter is 0, the floor is Lava and if your team hasn't read the required books, [that is, the 10 books in the countdown stage], your team will be stuck in the lava (i.e. lose points).



ZERO for round 2 is Wednesday 4th September, 9pm AEST for ALL teams. Countdown is here

The ARC edition works for the task but it just doesn’t have as many pages as the edition that is over 400 pages

I was confused because the wording is “Safezone Group 1 : Complete in round 2 and receive 50 bonus points!". Also someone had asked if they had completed group 1 in round 1 that they couldn’t receive the 50 bonus points and this was confirmed. So I wanted to make sure which word we needed to be spelling.

they wouldn't get the bonus for R1 because the bonus applies to R2. If you complete SZ1 in Round 2 you will get the bonus points, regardless of your choices in Round 1: it's a whole different floor, after all!

Each round is going to have a countdown plus three safezone groups. Points (except regen points) apply to the Round they are read for.
