Kate Donovan exiled herself to Mexico for five years after the bungled sting where her partner and boyfriend were killed by Trask. Should she have tried to salvage her reputation and career or was hiding the right thing to do?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1808 comments Hmmm.... in hindsight, it might not have been the best course of action. She could have transferred to e-crimes and tracked Trask with all of the resources of the FBI behind her.

On the other hand, Merritt was obviously out to get her at the time, so perhaps her decision was the right one.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I would have liked to see her stay and fight, but I understand her reasons for running. When an op goes so wrong, it takes everything just to survive and live. She needed to rebuild herself and start her own crusade to bring down Trask.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I agree that Merritt would never have let her walk after what happened. He would have had her in prison. Hiding was her only way to continue hunting Trask. I also feel that she needed that time alone.

Given Merritt’s energy for not only wanting to end her career but put her in jail, I’m thinking she probably did the right thing because she had no one in her corner, at that level, to advocate for her. The threat of being behind bars would have scared me, too.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I agree, Kate had no one supporting her, advocating for her. They were looking for a scape goat and she made a great target.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments Due to the fact that she knew Merritt was out to get her, I think she did the right thing. By hiding and working on finding Trask, I think she hoped this would eventually exonerate her. And, of course, the threat of prison would scare me.
