Yes and no. I knew it would be intense with Lucy being kidnapped and the countdown issue, but I wasn't ready for the very real aspects of her being held and abused. In fact, for me, it was excessive. I really did not need to "witness" her being raped multiple times. Once was more than enough to get the message across.
My stomach was in knots for the whole book. This was a very intense story and one that stays with you long after.
I was not prepared for it. The author really know how to get under your skin with the rape scenes. It made me slightly uncomfortable and I felt embarrassed for Lucy.
I thought I was prepared for it but it just took me to some really uncomfortable places because I knew it was realistic, probably much worse in real life.
I was not prepared at all for this book. I knew it was about Lucy being kidnapped but wasn't prepared for living through it with her.
I guess my imagination ran amok when I realized from the description she was being aired online. I knew what I was in for.
