Michelle Smith | 19 comments There exists a page for the COUPLES romances published by Scholastic in the mid-late 80s: https://www.goodreads.com/series/6623...

While there were 36 numbered books in the regular series, as the list correctly notes, there were actually 4 special edition volumes that should be included, too.

They are:
https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/5...

Summer Heat!
ISBN 9780590402361
Pub Date July 1986

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/7...

Be Mine!
ISBN 9780590404235
Pub Date January 1987

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/4...

Beach Party!
ISBN 9780590407939
Pub Date: July 1987

https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Sealed with a Kiss!
ISBN 9780590412636
Pub Date: January 1988

Thanks!

To be a series on Goodreads, books need to have more than a common theme -- like characters in common, an overarching storyline, a shared universe, etc. What makes this a series?

Michelle Smith | 19 comments These four books were published (biannually, it looks like) as special "the gang goes on vacation!" type books featuring characters who had appeared in the regular, monthly COUPLES books.

Michelle Smith | 19 comments They're also branded with the COUPLES logo. Here are their Amazon pages, with images:

Summer Heat: https://www.amazon.com/Summer-Heat-Co...

Be Mine: https://www.amazon.com/Be-Mine-Couple...

Beach Party: https://www.amazon.com/Beach-Party-Co...

Sealed with a Kiss: https://www.amazon.com/Couples-Specia...

That's actually not my question. I'm actually questioning whether any of these books qualify as a series by Goodreads standards.

Publishers often brand imprints as series. That doesn't mean Goodreads considers them to be one.

Michelle Smith | 19 comments Ohhhhhh! Yes, indeed, COUPLES was a series. All of the books take place at the same high school. The first dozen or so all feature the first protagonist and her friends and their various romantic adventures. The series eventually moves away from them a bit, but comes back to showcase them in volume 23 when it's time to graduate. Someone might get together in volume one, break up in volume nine, etc. It's very much a series.

Michelle Smith | 19 comments Howdy. Checking back in to see whether this was sufficient justification to consider COUPLES a series.

Thanks for bumping! I somehow missed the previous reply.

I added the 4 special editions as non-primary series elements.
