Interview with Author Rose Montague

1. I have seen you, as I am sure many other readers are familiar with you from the self-publishing forums, give us a little insight into your background as a writer.
My first book was published last November the traditional way through Eternal Press. Jade has done reasonably well and the next book in the series (Jane) should be published later this year also through Eternal Press. I am currently working on a new series that will be self published as well as working on the third and final book in my present series.
2. Tell me what other authors do you enjoy, who inspired you or influenced you the most to become a writer?
I love the urban fantasy genre and both my reading and writing are in that area. My favorite authors are Ilona Andrews, Faith Hunter, Darynda Jones, and Jim Butcher. I also enjoy YA books in that genre and my new series (Norma Jean's School of Witchery) is a YA series. I also read some paranormal romance and enjoy the occasional thriller. I love the Jack Reacher books (Lee Child) and just about anything from David Baldacci.
3. What made you decide upon the genre you are currently pursuing?
Authors tend to write in the genre they read the most in and I am no exception to that. I like the blend of worlds in urban fantasy. Some of it is similar to our present world and parts have at some point taken a different track, usually dealing with magic, the paranormal, or supernatural creatures. In Jade you will find just about all the supernatural creatures I have run into during my reading.
4. What is special about how you write. Do you have any set routine of method you follow?
I love mystery and surprise in my books. You never know when a shocker or plot twist will come along. I also enjoy a good bit of humor as well as a ton of action and a very light touch of romance.
5. What is the future plans you see for your writing next?
Three books will complete my present series (The Three J'amigos-Jade, Jane, and Jill) with Jill coming sometime after the first book in my present series. For the Norma Jean's School of Witchery series I have tentatively planned four books. I have also written a short story for a charity anthology that I may develop into a third series at some point. Yep, that's a lot of writing ahead.
6. Do you have any brief thoughts in passing you would like to share with the readers?
I would say if you are a writer, please keep writing and if you are a reader, I love you! Please keep reading!
