Seems like the pressure of Kira is getting to a lot of people involved on the case. If you were working on a case like this, would you stay dedicated to it or would you get the heck out of there? (I'D BE RUNNING OUT OF THOSE OFFICES REAL FAST TBH) What'd you guys think about Light's contraption for hiding the death note in his room? It's crazy how intricate he is in everything he does. You can tell how crazy smart he is in these first few chapters!

Brandi (mahinabee) | 2 comments I would’ve gotten out of there. Working in an office without knowing much about how it all happens would deter me.
It’s incredible how innovative Light is with the way he hides the death note. It’s almost a bit too realistic and his actions hit really close to what I would believe a methodical criminal would be like, makes me skin crawl just thinking about it.

Lauren Evatt (peerlessscarred) | 38 comments If I were one of the cops I would probably just end up wearing a mask forever and never tell anyone what my name was. I would be so paranoid! The best thing they could do would be to work as undercover as possible. Be like superheroes with secret identities. I'm not nearly as clever as Kira but I don't think I would ever let the notebook be too far from me. I would put a silly magazine cover on it or something and then just keep it with me all the time.

message 4: by Mildred (new)

Mildred Brito (milybrit) | 2 comments Run! As fast as a turtle stampede but I would have ran, lol. Light is so brilliant. I’m still surprised how he has every movement planned out, even the police.
I wonder how long it really took him to plan the whole thing.

Jellybean | 7 comments Yes, Light, I'm sure that no one would find it suspicious that a supposedly normal teenage boy set up a trap to set his desk on fire to protect his diary. That's a thing everyone does!

But really, it's no surprise he come up with such a clever and dangerous plan. That's sort of what he does. We already saw him leading L closer to his position as a ploy to cause internal strife within the investigation. Light IS playing with fire, no matter how much he thinks he's making himself safer.

(And yeah, I would run. No way I want to get in the middle of a war with a psychic killer!)

message 6: by Ashley (new)

Ashley Rhy | 15 comments I think we will get more clues later, but Light is giving off some psychopathic vibes to me. Super intelligent. Ambitious. Lack of empathy. I don't know but he seems to be falling under this category pretty well so far.

In the last chapter, I was upset because I thought Light was being stupid in revealing that he had access to the investigation information. But now that he explains, it makes sense.

Of course, a "normal" teenager is going to create something like that to hide a diary. Everyone would totally believe that. Most teenagers with diaries probably hide them under their beds or something but Light has to go the extra mile.

I would like to say that I would hang on and continue the investigation because it would be the "right" thing to do. But in all reality, I can't kill a spider on the wall without being frozen in fear for nearly ten minutes. Unless the life of someone I care deeply about is at stake, I'd be out.

message 7: by Dominique (new)

Dominique | 34 comments I would also 100% get the heck out. I don’t feel like dying at a young age. The job is to risky and Kira really wouldn’t have a problem with killing anyone who suspects him. A job is not worth my life.

His contraption for hiding the death note is very smart. Well thought threw and will definitely keep the death not hidden. He is so careful with his every move and it absolutely amazes me at how smart he is. He definitely would of made an amazing detective in the future.
