The last time I read the book I'm searching for, was 6-7 years ago, so the story is a little vague, as I do not know names of characterd or the author or even the title, but:

The story is situated during time of war(I think WWII), and follows a young boy. The young boy has to be transported with several other peoples by some soldiers, but on the way the car has an accident (by a mine?), and the boy is the only surviver, except for a girl. I know there was snow in that period. The boy and girl travel together, and here is where I start to forget everything... I do know the end of the story though, the boy waits all alone for a train and cries and I think he faints, but is discovered by a friend.. in the end, the boy gets safely back to his home country and is back home.

I've been searching for this book and would be glad if someone could help me.

Do you remember if the book was new at the time? Is it for teens or adults? Did you buy it at a bookstore or find it in a library(or somewhere else)?

I want to say Empire of the Sun? Probably not it.

At that time, I found the book in the library. I was 15-16 and was one of the books my teacher advised us students to read, so it might've been for teens. But I did not check if the book was new at that time.
