ABANDONED. dystopian/future, read in middle school in 2011, genetically superior race but are physically similar to leperds.

So I was maybe 50 pages in, back in 2011. I was becoming interested but had to put the book down and just lost track of it. I remember specifically the main character interacting with this superior race at a party and I believe the main character was out of place, maybe of a lesser caste. The people of this superior race were physically different and something along the lines of leprosy. One part Im not 100 percent sure is from another book is that the people would live and travel in these house sized full metal vehicles.
