ABANDONED. Recent-ish scifi, set in far future and/or alt future but is about classic cinema? Cover features woman bending to peer through an old-fashioned camera

I am pretty sure the author is female and I feel like it was a name I'd heard before, but I just can't remember who she is at all.
I have, however, a fairly clear memory of the book's cover: lots of blue, a vintage-y photo of a woman bent at the waist looking through a very old-fashioned camera (the woman also appears to be dressed in circa 1930s-40s clothing and hair), white light coming out of the camera but treated in a very graphic style as just a flat shape (whereas woman and camera appear to have been clipped out of a vintage photo).
And from the blurb, all I can recall is that this is a space-faring future or alternate future, and it has something to do with film-making.
But, annoyingly, every time I try to search these subjects in scifi I get a billion results for Star Wars etc, books that are based on film or about to be adapted to film and so on.
Thanks beforehand for your help!
