SOLVED. Fantasy book about a librarian looking for his wings to be with the girl he loves [s]

Hello everyone! I am looking for information on a fantasy book I read maybe six years ago. The novel is about a librarian who falls in love with a girl who has wings. The librarian and the girl cannot be together because the librarian does not have wings. So he sets out on a quest to find his own set of wings. He meets a whole bunch of people who teach him a lot on his journey, including a cannibal, and I think he may have fallen in love with a prostitute. He eventually finds his wings and goes back to the city, but I believe he finds that both he and the girl are changed people, and go on their separate ways.

The cover of the book was almost medieval looking and looked to have an image of a monk on it (this is the librarian I believe).

I really hope someone knows the book I am talking about! I would love to get my hands on a copy of it to add to my library. (Not sure what happened to my original copy).
