I thought for sure Lucas had gone wandering in the aquarium to try to hide their and "live their forever" or something like that. cute and kid like but freaking scary when they are in hiding (hide spoiler)]

Eddy (view spoiler)[ I don't want to be concerned that Eddy is in cahoots with his dad because I feel really sorry for Eddy but I kind of am. I like your idea Trisha, that he is being all weird because he likes the guy from the aquarium. (hide spoiler)]

hiding(view spoiler)[ it seems like they escaped one prison in exchange for another. I think their dad is alive and hiding and I suspect he is behind kidnapping scientists but what is he doing with them (hide spoiler)]

so, this next 10 chapters were really informative
but it's just about them adjusting and not about the dad or Phil or anything else...hmmmm...I can't figure out where this book is going...

thru 20 chapters

she's the most recognizable so I think she can't go out. (hide spoiler)]

Reese (view spoiler)[ she breaks my heart. I'm so glad she's found some kind of way to cope with what they've gone though, something that makes her feel safe. Hoarding M&M's. It could definitely be worse!! (hide spoiler)]

Lexie (view spoiler)[ I kind of hate that she's keeping secrets from everyone
I understand her want to find her parents, but seriously, these people NEED to start talking! They aren't getting anywhere! EVERYONE is keeping secrets!! UGH!
but I don't blame her. She has no chance to meet kids her own age, no one to hang out. she doesn't get new movies or music....she's just looking for something to connect to now that she's out (hide spoiler)]

Eddy (view spoiler)[ I am so mad at him. What is his problem?! He's treating them like such an inconvenience, he's not trying to get to know anyone OR being the really nice brother that he started as.....
Remember when Eli used to remember what a jerk he was and how everyone loved Eddy. It's completely reverse now
Eddy doesn't like anyone but Tony and grandma. He seems to be so angry at them all for being alive
and AGAIN he's keeping secrets. Why not just include Eli. Why not try to connect with him again..... I would have thought that Eddy would want to try to take Eli out - get him living crazy and wild too (hide spoiler)]

Tony (view spoiler)[ COMPLETELY sketch. I don't like him at all
NOT only is he a complete bad influence, he's a jerk. He's the most obvious person who could be reporting where they are.....and he just seems to get Eddy out making crappy decisions. He's breaking them apart even more and he seems to think it's funny.
I'm not sure what's going on with Eddy, but I think Tony is just making it worse (hide spoiler)]

ugh, this was a frustrating 10 chapters.....

but he seriously needs to take mom aside and talk about EVERYTHING
she needs to know about this guy with the card
that someone is keeping tabs on them
that Eddy is sharing everything with Tony
that Reese is comping with M&M's
and Lexie is searching for her parents
that is A LOT of secrets.... (hide spoiler)]

I wish she'd notice...she needs to DO something for these older kids. this is all breaking apart and she's just hiding with the babies instead of dealing with it
they all need help. If they can have security that will keep a secret, than they can hire a personal secretary, counselor....something to get in there and help them start coping (hide spoiler)]

I don't understand why we are introducing Aging/anti-aging/fountain of youth....this is such a weird direction to go.

He was going in so many different directions which would have worked if there was going to be another book but sadly there's not so it was just too much. I think stuffed every idea she had into this one book! It wasn't the epic conclusion I was looking for though! (hide spoiler)]

Eli(view spoiler)[ I loved Eli in the first book for some reason, and now I have proof why I love him!! I understand he was jerk in the first book but now he's really come through and was trying to keep the whole group together. WHY DOES THERE HAVE TO BE SO MANY SECRETS!!! Didn't the realize when they first escaped secrets aren't going to help. Gawd!! Even though Eli is keeping tons of his own secrets! I'm done ranting :) (hide spoiler)]

Unbelievable (view spoiler)[ I didn't understand the need to do this. About 3/4 of the way into the books this whole new tech is introduced that leaves you wondering why wasn't this discovered before and what is it doing now of all times. Also, the characters had a build of stupidity and then out of nowhere they get the answer which just didn't work. But there was a sense of urgency in the book which was good to read with (hide spoiler)]

Eddy/Toby(view spoiler)[ I never really liked the both of them. They were always really annoying and stand-off-ish that they just were weird people. I liked how the two were in the last part of the book though. (hide spoiler)]

In general(view spoiler)[ the book was weird. The characters were weird. IT was overall a weird book with too much urgency in it but I still liked. A fun and quick read like the compound. (hide spoiler)]

I agree, parts of this were really weird but I liked watching these people try to reintegrate themselves into society for the first half of the book. The ending was just strange though and seemed like it was trying to be too much like the first book.

That's true Mandiann, but it could have been done without all the side stories. How was it like the first book, I thought it was different but now always in the best way.

This one WAS weird!!
So what did you guys think of the side story with the sister and her "real" mom
and the side story about anti-aging/fountain of youth?

and what about the side story of the people following them in order to get the secret bunker idea for their survivalist stuff?

these seemed to be the weirdest off shoot stories that didn't seem to have anything to do with anything......

Was it just me? did I miss how these tied in at all?
