Ch12-Malfoy is so superior about everything. I love to hate him. Hes so despicable and smarmy.
-Love Harry and Ron's digs on Crabbe and Goyle.
Ch13
-Hermione spent 5 weeks in the hospital over bad Polyjuice potion. Lesson learned, I hope.
-Ron jokes that Riddle killed Myrtle. Not very funny, seeing as it's true.
-How can Harry think for a second that Hagrid opened the chamber and that Dumbledore would let him stay if he did?
Ch14
-New subjects! I'd choose Ancient Runes, Care of Magical Creatures, and Arithmancy
-Hermione being petrified sent a shock through me first read.
-Fudge is already showing what an idiot he is, removing Hagrid just to make it look like he's doing something. Illusion of safety, basically.
Thanks, Alex!I'd absolutely steer clear of Divinaton and Muggle Studies (assuming I'm a Muggle-born). I'm with McGonagall on Divination being imprecise.
I'd do Runes and magic creatures.
What is Arithmancy again?
Oh and I forgot about Lockhart's dwarves delivering Valentines. Harry gets a musical one. I wonder who sent it? Malfoy teases Ginny for sending it, but did she? We know she has a crush on him, so she's a good suspect.

Arithmancy is numerology. Studying the magical properties of numbers. Arithmancy is required to be a curse breaker for Gringotts.
Yes I'm loving the small references to the Mandrakes too - getting moody, acne, and then knowing they are mature when they start trying to move into each others pots. I think I'd try to be like Hermione too and sign up for everything. But magical creatures would be a must. And since I'm a math teacher, I'm sure I'd have to do Arithmancy.
Ok something that bothered me on this reread that I never really thought about before. What does Harry get everybody for Christmas? He always gets a terrible gift from the Dursleys but never mentions sending them anything. Also he gets gifts from Ron, the Weasleys, Hermione and Hagrid but it never mentions him giving them anything. Which just makes him seem really thoughtless especially since he is wizard rich.Another thing why was Millicent replaced by Pansy in the later books?
Good question Bill. I think I'm just going to imagine Harry gets his friends gifts that just aren't mentioned in the books. =)
He get them gifts in later books that are mentioned. I mean, at least in books 1 and 2, he can't go to Hogsmeade to pick anything up and he probably doesn't know to write to the stores for anything. I'm gonna chalk it up to Harry being young and inexperienced in the wizarding world and Rowling just leaving it out.
As for Millicent, isn't she a 5th year? So she leaves at some point and Pansy was always around. I think she was mentioned at the sorting ceremony (I could be wrong). Also Millicent is just there to have the cat hair for Hermione to use to change into a khajiit.
Let's be real - that's basically what Hermione is turned into. Myrtle even says she has a tail.Ah no. I must be confusing Millicent with someone else. She's in Harry's year. http://harrypotter.wikia.com/wiki/Mil...
