Would you allow a preteen to read this? I am thinking; No.

Aurora Pangaea I have just come to the conclusion of how ignorant people think pre-teens are honestly in year 7 we read books that were worse than this in class. And my main point is who looks and dictates what their child is reading. They will read it anyway. In a way this discussion is offensive if people did what book characters did I would be an immmortal wizard and every one would be dead.

Lauren I agree Aurora

Jjab If all a parent is worried about is what a kid is reading, there is something wrong. With drugs, assaults, pregnancy, and sexually transmitted diseases to name a few real issues to worry about. Let kids read what ever they want.

My parents were ecstatic I showed any interest in any book. They encouraged me to read regardless of the genre.

Sarah Personally, I think this is ridiculous.

Recently in my English honors class we read Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck, which I think was a disturbing book.

However, I read this and did not feel disturbed, maybe uncomfortable at some points, but not nearly as much as Of Mice and Men. My english teacher does not like Cassandra Clare but finds Of Mice and Men a beautiful literary masterpiece.

I think some things disturb some people, and some things disturb others. Everyone is different. Find out what kind of content your child is uncomfortable with and talk to them about it.

Emily I personally am eleven and I read the whole entire series so to me Yes! this series is ok for a preteen or even somebody my age! but I will admit my mom would be mad if she read City of heavenly fire !
