Adam Shields (adamrshields) | 57 comments I used to have a kindle 2 with a floating waterproof case and I loved it. I would take it in the ocean and read and float and not worry. If I dropped it I just picked it back up again.

I had an aftermarket waterproofed paper white but the screen made it unusable with any spray.

Now I have the oasis 2 and I can turn the screen off and try to float and read again.

But I can’t find a way to make it float.

My best guess is one of those pop rings that people use with phone and then get a float that you use for keys and hook them together. I think that will work but the adhesive is the weak point.

I have thought about trying to make a bumper case but I don’t want to try to mold one

Anyone else have a good idea? I have a week until I am headed to the beach. I have pop ring coming in a couple days to try it before I leave at the pool.

CBRetriever | 486 comments it doesn't sound like the waterproofness is designed to be long term like floating in water if you look at this page:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/browse.html...

it recommends immediately removing the device from water if it falls in and drying it. Ditto for it if water falls on it.

Adam Shields (adamrshields) | 57 comments Its rating is for an hour underwater up to 6 feet.

My intent it to keep it out of water most of the time for reading but it will get splashed and probably float for less than a minute at a time a couple times over a hour.

It should last that long.

CBRetriever | 486 comments it might, as long as you do the immediate dry it off bit

Adam Shields (adamrshields) | 57 comments It isn’t perfect but I got some foam with single sided tape (designed for weather sealing windows).

I put a couple strips on the back along thin side and that was enough to make it float.
