Emoni is a very likable character so far, and i hope it stays that way.

Pages 59-82: I love her first draft of her paper; it is very touching. I love how it goes into the fact that she is her person, even though she has two different ethnicities. Her honesty with that customer made me so happy; I understand that moment where you want to be honest, but you can't completely. In that last chapter, I think her father doesn't know how to be a father.
Pages 83-121: I think these chapters were exciting, with some hard lessons in culinary arts. I loved Malachi telling Leslie off without telling her off, and of course, the cute scene at the end.
Pages 122-171: I honestly want to go all parental on Emoni, especially because she is a parent. I don't care how embarrassed you feel in a class; you don't skip a week, and especially something that will teach you about something you want to do for a career, especially since you are a mother and don't want to teach your daughter to run away when things get tough.
Page 172-221: I love Laura and Angelica, they are so cute, and I love how Angelica lets her guard down around her. Also, I am glad that Emoni went back to class and had a bonding moment with her teacher, which helped. Also, she gets the job of helping with the fundraising for the Spain trip, such a sweet gesture.
Page 222-273: I feel so proud that she got the money from her hard work and asking for help. I felt like tearing up when her aunt sent her the money. Also, I get it. Malachi and Emoni are cute, but I don't know. I am so happy that she quit the job though, Steve is a butt. Oh, and Tyrone's mother is mean.
Page 274-326: The beginnings of the Spain trip are so cool, especially with the descriptions. Sorry I have to ignore the Malachiness. Oh, and I absolutely love Chef Amadi; I think she will really help Emoni.
Page 327-376: I don't have any specific opinions, but I enjoyed the heart to heart, Emoni had with her grandmother. I also loved that Leslie and Emoni are over this dumb "feud" that they had if you could call it that.
Pages 377-388: Awww, such a sweet moment between father and daughter. Graduating ceremonies always get to me, even when it's in a book, always making me tear up. I am surprised by her decision, even though it's a great one.
I am Finished!

- "People say that you're stuck with the family you're born into, and for most people, that's probably true. But we all make choices about people. Who we want to hold close, who we want to remain in our lives, and who we are just fine without.
- "The world is a turntable that never stops spinning; as humans, we merely choose the tracks we want to sit out and the ones that inspire us to dance."
- "I've always been small, physically petite, which made people think I had a small personality." I know someone who is that way and has a big personality.
- "Angelica's always reminding me not to be 'so damn hetero'"
