Awww, that's not fair! So basically you get double points for the books that you are giving away (both for the place where you're taking the books to and for the cms you cleared). Why can't we get points for the cms we cleared from our TBR shelf, regardless of whether we keep them or not? *sulks*

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments I read The Twelve. It was awesome!

Length of time the book(s) languished on your Goodreads shelf (count for each book):

4 pts. – before September 2011 (three years)

Pages (total number of 50-page segments read for this challenge. Include of the books you liked and the ones you disliked):
5 pts. – 500 or more

Book Destination (or where are the duds going next?):
5 pts. – I donated my book(s) to a retirement home, nursing home, or someplace similar (Salvation Army)

Bonus Points:
4 pt. – Pull out your measuring tape. You earn a point for every centimeter of actual space you cleared off of your book shelf.

18 points total

I tried to photograph my example, but I the font is too small to work. Here's a link to a great blog about erasure poems.

Almeta (menfrommarrs) | 11470 comments I really like this idea, but timing was bad for me to take advantage of it.

I had only one date and in truth - my YLTO! friends FORCED ME to make a date at all!

I read Shades of Grey. ☻

8 pitiful points!

Ooops, I didn't comply at all! Just realized that I didn't finish the book within the time frame!

Thing Two (thingtwo) Thanks for playing along, everyone. I'll try to get this all posted by Monday. :)

Cherie (crobins0) | 21536 comments Great challenge, Thing Two!

Thanks for helping me figure out a good way to parse through a pile of books with your challenge.

I might put a week aside every once in a while to have my own Speed Date event. I really need to go through the huge amount of books I have collected over the last two years and not read yet. Even if I only do one book a week, it would help sort out the potential DUDs to get rid of.

Debra (debra_t) | 6542 comments Almeta, I don't understand why you disqualified yourself. Didn't you finish your book in September? What am I missing here?

I don't think the speed dating spanned the whole of September (can't remember exact dates but it's in the first post of this thread).
