An easy challenge where someone else picks a book for you to read from your bookshelf and you do the same for them. You have to read the chosen book the next month.

So, sign up for this Challenge by posting the link to your TBR shelf or the shelf you would like to read a book from.

Please make your profile public before taking part in this challenge. The pairs will be announced around mid July. Make sure you come back and choose a book for your assigned partner by July 25th.

******************************

Here are the pairs:

2) Dhruv - 9) Selva
3) Shrikanth - 11) Isha
4) Bela - 12) Nick
5) Ashwini - 13) Niveditha
6) Laurel - 14) Denish
7) Vipul - 18) Vishal
8) Neetu - 20) Srikar

******************************

The glimpses of world history by Jawaharlal Nehru .

Happy reading!

Thanks, Shrikanth :)

The book I'll suggest you for august read is The Zoya Factor by Anuja Chauhan since the movie will release in September, I think it is better to read the book first & then watch the movie. :)

Enjoy Reading!

Hi Ashwini!

I went through your list and it definitely wasn't easy for me to pick one from the huge selection but after minutes of pondering, I have chosen 'Station eleven' by Emily St.John Mandel for you. I read the book last month and I absolutely adored the writing and the story. It is un-put-down-able in my opinion. I hope you enjoy it as much! Waiting for my book for August :)

Cheers!

Hello,
The Glimpses of... is a long book of over 1000 pages. People have selected this even in past challenges. That's why I always favor recommending multiple books. Guess I can't delay it any further; but if you can plz provide another option.

I select these books for you. Read one or both:

The Fountainhead
Assassin's Apprentice

Happy reading!!

message 29: by Bela (new)

Bela Dedhia | 1138 comments @Nick
I generally recommend multiple books to people to choose from for the PIFM. But there were only 7-8 books in your list. Out of those, the ramayan and the Mahabharata were huge tomes with many volumes. So I was left with no option ( I guess that must also be the reason that ppl have chosen the same book earlier too) . So I suggest you pls add more books ro your list so that there is some amount of choice available for picking books for you.
In case you need an option for this month, then I guess you can go ahead with Making wars: how world war II shaped south Asia .

And thanks for your choices. I think I will go with The fountainhead. I have been meaning to read it for quite some time now.

@Bela

I concur with you that there are very less books on the list. The reason being that I read only hard copies of books and order in bulk in advance. Although you could have selected Vol 1 for Ramayana or Mahabharata, but I get your reason for the same.

I have delayed reading Glimpses.. for long now. Guess I should get on with it!!

I read Fountainhead a long ago. IMO, the book and story is, shall we say...ammm....different. I think you would enjoy it.

Thanks for your suggestions.

I'm picking The Delhi Detective's Handbook: Vish Puri's Guide to Operating as a Private Investigator in India by Tarquin Hall for you.

Thank you.

Ashwini Sharma | 36 comments Hi Niveditha,

Thank you for your recommendation. I was off Goodreads for a long time and apologize for the long delay. I know its almost end of August, nonetheless let me choose one for you for August.

The No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency
McCall Smith, Alexander *

^This one is a very pleasurable, light and enjoyable read. I thoroughly loved reading this one.

I was off for August, because I had Eleanor Oliphant to read for July, and I found that book to be a huge drag. Just couldn't complete it and lost my drive to check Goodreads more regularly.

I completely understand being put off reading by a boring book. I hope September is a better reading month for you. I will take your recommendation as my pick for the next month.
