Maple (maplerie) | 1025 comments For the game prompt, I’m nearly finished with Early Riser, by Jasper Fforde, and chess plays a huge part of it. It’s a great book.

Bec | 1337 comments I changed my mind so many times....but eventually went with 4 up and 4 down. Slowest time for me to vote - I'm normally in within the first day.

Absolutely! A friend's daughter played on a collegiate team about 2 years ago.

message 104: by Bryony (new)

Bryony (bryony46) | 1081 comments I finally voted after lots of indecision this week.

Up votes:
- Foreign literary prize: lots of choice and it would encourage me to look at awards and books that might not already be on my radar.
- News story: I like how open this is, I might read nonfiction about a contemporary event or a novel about someone affected by current events.
- Beautiful writing: because good writing is one of the main things I look for in a book so I’d enjoy looking for books that are renowned for beautiful writing.
- Olympic sport: I love sport and I’d use this to read a biography of a favourite athlete or a book about tactics in one of my favourite sports.
- Set in the Southern Hemisphere: because I always enjoy being encouraged to read books set in countries other than the UK or US.

Down votes:
- ALA list: although I liked some of the books on the list, I feel like there have been a lot of US-centric lists in recent years and so this didn’t really inspire me.
- Sea creature: most of the books I could see that would qualify are fantasy and that’s not usually a genre I read (but then again, I like being pushed outside my comfort zone so I won’t mind too much if it wins, I’ll just need some inspiration from the group to help me choose)
- Water on the cover: just because I had trouble finding books for water related prompts last year so I instinctively didn’t like this one.

I only used 7 of my votes this week. I debated and debated but there just wasn't another that I felt strongly about.

Fingers crossed that we don't have to wait until evening for the results post! I know the mods are busy people but...excited. :)

Katie | 2360 comments Since the poll opened late in the day on Monday, we wanted to give some time today for those late minute voters. But the votes are now posted. Enjoy. 😊
