SOLVED. Woman goes forward into time, lost war. [s]

Remembered plot: The heroine goes on a quest/ mission to get a super weapon/magic item that would save the day and defeat the "evil" empire. Somehow gets stuck in time and comes back to find her kingdom lost the war and the new people aren't that bad. Book centers around her acceptance of this. I think there was also some romance with the new prince being the love interest.
Time: This was probably 10+ years ago if not longer.
