That was the most memorable scene to me. It was chilling. Not telling the family what really happened is not right. Lisa’s death got to me too. 2 death scenes in this book yikes!
I was hoping up to the minute Briar identified her that Janaia had survived. Broke my heart and it was so chilling to see her death through her eyes. Yes, I was definitely surprised.
I understand why they couldn’t tell her husband but I hate that he’ll not know. But, maybe it’s better that he not know how she suffered before she died.

I thought this scene was chilling too. I expected her to be saved somehow. And witnessing it through her eyes made it seem so real to me.I think people that have these types of occupations understand that if something happens to them, their family will probably never know the truth.

Because of the clandestine nature of her work, her family will never know the truth of how she died. Your thoughts about that?
