I thought their attraction and acting on it fit with the timing in the story. Sexual tension along with the adrenaline of the danger etc. Lust at first sight maybe? I would have bought it even without their prior meeting. By the end when he took off his wedding ring, I was finally convinced he was ready to move on. When he was still wearing his wedding ring after their first time together and carrying around Lisa’s picture while telling Briar he wants to see where their relationship goes I wanted Briar to kick him in the you know what. He should have take the ring off then.
Laura, you’ve described the dynamics of their relationship perfectly!!!
The way their romance developed worked for me. They had that spark at the first meeting and it just moved quickly from there.
Matt removing his wedding ring was a big step and I, too, was concerned when he didn’t earlier. But, I knew he would when he was ready and the timing felt right to me.
Now, I’m okay with him keeping her pictures but they cannot be prominently displayed anymore. She’s not the center of his life now...Briar is.

I would have liked Briar more secure and her telling him take off that ring if you want me to do ya again lol. I can see why she was intimidated though.
Matt was really intrigued during their first meeting and she took up space in his mind. He really wondered who she was. When he gets the chance to finally get to know her, he is already halfway in lust with her.Matt and the ring. He should have taken it off when he realized the feelings he and Blair had for each other were more than the one-night stand variety.
I agree that he couldn't forget their first meeting. And then when they meet again, I think he is already in lust with her. I actually liked it that it took a while for him to remove his ring. It showed that he was ready for a committed relationship with Blair.
That was my feeling, too, Karen (about the ring). If he’d done it earlier, it wouldn’t have rung true for me.

It would make me feel like we were committing adultery because he is still in love with and committed to his dead wife.
