Patrisia Sheremeta This has been driving me crazy for months. The book is about two best girlfriends. One has petit mal seizures and goes into another world. There was a kitten in this other world she called Grey One. I was about 10 or 11 when I read it so it can't be later than '77/'78.

I could have sworn the name of the book was Best Friends, but I can't find anything that matches the description. Does this ring a bell for anyone?

Sherri | 74 comments A longshot but the book "A Sound of Crying" by Rodie Sudbury is about a girl named Polly who has dreams about another girl, Sarah, who lived long ago and had a cat she called Gray One.

Patrisia Sheremeta It's not quite right. Although I am wondering if I have jumbled up this book and the other one all together. So let me amend - two best friends, one has seizures. I remember one scene where the two girls see their teacher out of school and were shocked by how much mascara she was wearing. Not much to go on.

Maybe this? Why have the birds stopped singing? by Zoa Sherburne. During an epileptic seizure while visiting her ancestral home, sixteen-year-old Katie is transported back in time and mistaken for her great-great-great grandmother who also had epilepsy at a time when the disease was greatly misunderstood.

Patrisia Sheremeta That's not it. I've actually already gone through that list. Frustrating.

My Best Friend is a picture book about epilepsy.

Rainbowheart | 28722 comments This doesn't have the fantasy part, but take a look at Best Friends by Mary Bard (1955).
