parp!.....in that (despite my poor phrasing) the vocals were all undertaken by the crass ladies, eve libertine and joy de vivre, and explored women's issues long before it became the thing...............yes, space 6 albums (although the last two wunt that striking) and a whole host of great singles............................c'mon folks let your inner anarchist free!!!

Feeding of the 5,000 is often described as an album, but it's really a 12" e.p. The record was always listed on the indie singles charts, back in the good days when indie meant independent of the man rather than a fake genre.
yeah, as much to do with 'pay no more than £2' and the length of the record fell within single parameters in those days (good ole days), the m.o. to give much music for as little price possible - was upgraded to 'album' upon cd release.

Only the 7 voters for our 9 noms this week. Named and shamed - Brass Neck (again) and Collette.Standing proudly atop the podium - Tim, with Nagasaki Nightmare. A silver for Val with Bata Motel, and Tech bags himself the bronze with Where Next Columbus?.
Way back in the day, Crass were right at the cutting edge, forever pulling off some outrageous act or other, rarely out of the headlines. But I found that time has not been great to their memory, it all seemed a little, well, quaint, to me on listening this list. Can't deny their effect at the time but now. I think plenty others picked up their baton and ran a lot further with it than they themselves did. Just my opinion :-)
I suspect Mr BN is still head deep in his pupil's (do schools still call schoolkids that? They were in my day!) homework marking...which may continue until the summer break! :)Dunno 'bout Collette tho..mibbe not afficionado of punk?
Anyhoo.....not bad ...congrats to the winners.
Sorry to disappoint you Sussex, but we don't dish out wooden spoons in fave artists. Not your fault if the band is crap :-)
true, there are certain crass pieces that will always retain their relevance, originality and air of confrontation. sadly tho', a fair amount hasn't aged well - not the point, they were there for the short term, impact indisputable, taking the best elements of 'hippy' communal living, ensuring fans paid the least possible amount for their music, removing all traditional elements from their music. like them or not they were a 'people's band', with more far reaching influence than you might think.
Oops. Named and shamed. That's embarassing. 😳 Soz, Techy. I meant to listen and vote last night and totally forgot. 😬

Wiki says we have six albums to choose from, I seem to remember a lot more but they were probably good ol fashioned bootlegs.
Nominations close 10pm Sunday evening as usual, let's see if we can get a good haul for this one.
Summer is here at last on this rainy old island, off to make the most it :-)
