Kiera Time Read
Friday:
1 hour - Red, White & Royal Blue (finished this today)
1 hour - All That Remains: A Life in Death (started reading)
1.5 hours - The Sisters Brothers (started listening to the audiobook)

Saturday:
0.5 hours - The Sisters Brothers (I worked all day in this heatwave we're having and had to pack at home because I'm moving back home from uni tomorrow so didn't get nearly as much done as I'd hoped)

Sunday:
0.5 hours - All That Remains

Total: 4.5 hours
I didn't manage to finish a book like I'd hoped but I still found time to read which is the main thing. I'm looking forward to next month when I hopefully won't be as busy!

Jenny Clark Just finished Treasure Island myself

message 11: by Holly (last edited Jul 01, 2019 04:10AM) (new)

Holly (goldikova) Friday - 8 hours

I finished Pre-Raphaelites in Love and gave it 5 stars; it was a fascinating look inside art, marriage and life so different from our tradition views of Victorian times. 80 pages

I started a book I bought from a local indie author;Sahmara and it's good so far. 26 pages

Because I like to alternate between fiction and non-fiction, I also started Not by a Long Shot: A Season at a Hard Luck Horse Track 48 pages

So I didn't read as much as I wanted to during my eight hours, but that would only happen if I had the house to myself for an entire weekend.

Saturday - 8 hours finished Sahmara 215 pages

Sunday - 8 hours 80 pages in Not by a Long Shot: A Season at a Hard Luck Horse Track. I also got started on The Curse of Chalion 178 pages

Jacqueline | 7 comments After forgetting it was this weekend and cooking all weekend I actually got some in. My goal isn’t so much how many hours reading but that I actually got some in at all.

Friday
3 hours -
Dragonflight - Pern 1 by Anne McCaffrey (audiobook) while driving to and from the big town 120km away. 240km round trip. Really enjoying it too and was wishing I still had further to go. I’d forgotten this one when I updated fb the other day.

Approx 4 hours when I got home -
A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine (ebook) I was determined to finish this before yesterday and did. It was the BOTM for my sci-fi Bookclub and I never usually read and finish them in the month they’re actually being read. I was rather pleased with myself. And I actually really liked it.

Saturday
Zilch, zero, nada
Spent the whole day cooking so that I can leave as many meals as possible in the freezer for Hubby for when I go away again. We live apart at the moment because he has to work out here in the Outback and I have to look after his 91 year old Father 9 hours away on the coast. Hubby gets home late from work a lot because he travels around to meetings out of town so having ready made meals in the freezer makes it so much easier. For the first time in ages I’ve wrangled a couple of weeks at home and he was out of frozen meals so I thought I’d better get onto it. I do usually listen to audiobooks when I do the bulk cooking but I couldn’t find my iPod where they’re all stored and I didn’t feel like listening to the ones I have from the library on my phone and Pern is cued nicely in my car on a thumb drive and I don’t want to have to stuff around finding where I’m up to when I get in again.

Sunday
After more cooking I finally got an hour in at bedtime.
1 hour
Children of Time by Adrian Tchaikovsky (paperback) everyone raves about this one and I keep getting lost and have reread some stuff a couple of times. Also there are 🕷. Not a fan of them but I shall persist because I wanted to finish it this week (I’ll probably have to leave by the weekend again) and leave it for Hubby to read. Hopefully I can get The Outsider by Stephen King finished by then and leave it for him too. He reads a lot when I’m away. TV is boring and really pretty crap.

Total - 8 hours (which is better than the 0 from last month)

Sounds like everyone did a great job! I’m looking forward to trying again next month. Things did not work out for me as there was an accident at my home at 2 am Saturday morning involving my dog Scout. We had to rush him to the ER vet an hour away. He’s still in the hospital, but is finally starting to recover.

Sorry to hear that. I'm glad he is on the mend. Hope he has a full recovery.
