It's time for September's nominations! Books that we have not read in the past two years are eligible for nomination. Nominations must be at least 50 years old, written by a woman, and please state whether or not you can lead.
There is no theme. Nominations end July 15th.

Anyone can nominate a book.

Here is the link to the bookshelf: https://www.goodreads.com/group/books...

Very cool. Adding to my TBR, regardless.

I am reading Mrs. Dalloway this month and The Hours in August. All Passion Spent in September would be a Woolf trifecta.

Just a reminder that there are 5 more days for nominations.

message 10: by Cam (new)

Cam | 116 comments Oops, sorry Laura for missing your question! Both The Devil's Pool and Fadette have been part of the curriculum in France for decades, either as recommended or required reading, and I would say that those two are her most famous works.

Laura (loranne) | 241 comments Hi, thank you Cam - Fadette is completely new on my radar, although George Sand is someone I have been meaning to read for a while now. Just need a little kick - which is why I think Groups are so good.

Marilyn In preparation for next month's read of All Passion Spent, I listened to A Room of One's Own again last night. It's still a 5 star read for me.

I just put All Passion Spent on hold at the library. So I hope to get it this weekend.

message 17: by Marilyn (new)

Marilyn I checked out a copy of All Passion Spent from the library yesterday.

Title page:
New edition
Published by Leonard and Virginia Woolf at The Hogarth Press, Tavistock Square, London
1938

Next page:
First published - May 1931
Second impression - June 1931
New cheap edition - 1932
Second impression - 1938

I am guessing that "cheap edition" eventually turned into mass market paperback.

Rebecca (becstokes) I've also picked up a copy of All Passion Spent from the library. It sounds great! I never would've heard of it if not for the book club. Really looking forward to it.
