Very good book!

Melissa | 139 comments I LOVED this novel. The prose was beautiful, the story was enthralling, the main character evokes empathy, and the setting was riveting.

I’m always drawn to stories that carry themes of isolation and rejection, as Frankenstein has always been one of my favorites. But this story also develops and comments on toxic masculinity and the author beautifully uses nature as symbolism for human relationships.

All of these themes are developed as the story progresses with a murder mystery that had me engaged from the beginning. I loved this one.

This is the second book I've read in a few months where (view spoiler) I am never upset or appalled by this idea and (view spoiler)

Heather Dufield | 94 comments I liked this book too. It covered a lot of different topics racism, sexism and murder. I like how Kya thrived even though she had a lot going against her.

KellI Preston | 156 comments I just loved every minute of this book.

And interestingly enough, a couple years ago my dad and I took 20 hour one way, so 40 hours total, road trip together to a wedding. It was a special experiance with me being 41 and him 67, it was the most time we spent alone together ever I think. Since I listen to audio books in the car he was forced to as well. There was grumbling at first as he has never been a reader, but he soon became very engaged and we listened to about 4 books on that trip. When he got home he asked my mom to get audible and since he has listened to many books. Since he is terminally ill and has a lot of free time on his own while my mom works it entertains him. He listened to this as I was reading a hard copy and it was so fun to discuss it with him as we progressed and he also really liked it.

Winter (winter9) | 5003 comments Finished this up yesterday. Gave it 4 stars and enjoyed it a lot. I'm not really the biggest fan of court trials so that part was a bit slow for me, but the rest was lovely.
