All done! I ended up giving this 3 stars, I really wanted to like it more :(
The potential for world building was there in spades, but I found the execution lacking. However, with this being a debut novel I still thought it was pretty good.
Like I said before I was NOT a fan of the writing style. When we would switch perspectives sometimes the person we had switched to was not mentioned by name until an entire page later which I found very confusing. Yes, you could figure it out through context clues, but I found that completely took me out of the reading experience until I figured it out.
I can completely see this series developing beautifully, especially with the friendship dynamics set up in this book. I'm very interested to see how the author's writing develops as this series continues. I really enjoyed the concept and want to see more from the world.

The entire book can be discussed in this thread.
