One twin has a mold on her left check while the other it is the right. One twin drowns and other lives. The one who lives is sweet and innocent and does what she is told. She grows up to be a teenager and believes her twin is insane her she has personality disorder but blames it on her dead twin. She does crazy things believing her twin took over such as drinking, partying, and making out with a guy. She allows her "twin" to do these things because she feels guilty.

From what I remember the twin doesn't. The twin that died was a sweet innocent one and the one who lived was the outgoing crazy type. The one who lived took her sister personally not sure why though guess guilt. But when she becomes a teen that side that she locked away came back so instead of owning up to it she blames that side of her has her dead twin.
Searching "young adult" "novel" "dead twin" "personality" this book came up:The Secrets We Keep by Trisha Leaver.
Ella and Maddy Lawton are identical twins. Ella has spent her high school years living in popular Maddy's shadows, but she has never been envious of Maddy. In fact, she's chosen the quiet, safe confines of her sketchbook over the constant battle for attention that has defined Maddy's world.
When—after a heated argument—Maddy and Ella get into a tragic accident that leaves her sister dead, Ella wakes up in the hospital surrounded by loved ones who believe she is Maddy. Feeling responsible for Maddy's death and everyone's grief, Ella makes a split-second decision to pretend to be Maddy. Soon, Ella realizes that Maddy's life was full of secrets. Caught in a web of lies, Ella is faced with two options—confess her deception or live her sister's life.
That book sounds interesting I am going to read that, but it isn't the book I'm looking for. The one I'm looking for the twin died by drowning at a very young age around the age of eight maybe younger.
I was thinking Identical by Ellen Hopkins as well. The protagonist has dissociative identity disorder and chapters are from perspectives of both "sisters," isn't revealed until near the end that she's one person.
No response, moving to Abandoned folder.
