Brett | 12 comments Hi Everyone,

I'm looking for a short story that I *think* is by Ray Bradbury, and unfortunately I don't remember that much about it. It's a love story about a young man and woman or possibly teenagers who go on a walk and it starts to rain, so they take shelter in a tree. It might have been set in suburbia. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance for all of your help!

Salome | 5 comments Do you remember if the story took place on Venus? Some rain related Ray Bradbury shorts take place there. I don't know if this will help, but these are the names of shorts by him, maybe it will trigger something.

Brett | 12 comments thanks for the tip. I am pretty sure it took place on earth in a typical suburban neighborhood. Also, I'm almost pretty sure that the only short story collections I've read by Bradbury are Illustrated Man and Martian Chronicles. I looked through this list extensively, and I think I have to conclude that this short story wasn't written by Bradbury but by someone else I read at the same point in my life. I remember thinking this was the most romantic story I had ever read, but I can't really add more. Urgh! foiled again by my faulty memory!

Thomas (verkisto) | 25 comments It sounds like something that would fit into Dandelion Wine, though I don't recall that specific scene. It's not a short story collection, but the chapters can sometimes read like individual short stories.

Kevin Anderson | 6 comments I KNOW that this story is in this book: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradbury... and I think it's near the middle, but I don't know which story it is.

Brett | 12 comments We have a winner! I am now 99% sure that it is the short story Hopscotch. I found this synopsis of the plot: "In "Hopscotch," a girl's 17th birthday is one of those days you remember forever: eating wild grapes from a vine, dabbling feet in an icy brook, sharing a kiss under a tree in a rainstorm." I haven't reread it to confirm, but I'm almost positive this is the right story. A shorter version was published in Redbook called A Summer Day, and the longer version (that I'm sure I read) was published in Quicker than the Eye, and it's been republished in the collection Kevin sent the link to, in case anyone is interested.

Thank you so much! I am constantly amazed at this group.
