How to do you organise your book notes?

I need help from you guys! I've been reading quite a lot of interesting non-fiction and self-help books that I highlight like crazy (only ebooks, don't worry). Now I have all those great quotes and pieces of information I don't want to lose (especially when reading from the library) and I don't know how to store and organize them to keep them and access them easily... 🤔

So I have a few questions for you guys:
- Do you take notes when reading books?
- Do you highlight quotes?
- What do you do with all this information?
- If you keep it, do you actually consult it sometimes?

I take notes sometimes. I have notebooks for traveling, budgeting and investing that I put them in. I do consult them too.

I take e-notes on my phone. I set up a new Note for each book and record lines that I like or thoughts on the material. Sometimes I just take a picture of a page. I only do this in case I write a review.

I have one notebook for everything in my life. I usually jot them down in that but for non-fiction I have a google docs folder for all of my notes. In the past, I’ve used Evernote so I could just take pics of my notebook pages and add them to my notes. Going digital is always great because Ctrl + F is a thing! 😊

You can keep them in Goodreads. I have my Kindle account linked so when I'm reading an ebook my highlights get attached to the book here. It then gives me an option to make them public if I want but by default they're private. I'm assuming you can add them manually too.

If it's a physical book I take photos with my phone and use Google lens to copy them into text. But I only use those in my blog reviews, I don't copy them into GR, though maybe I should!

The only time I really use any of this info is for writing reviews, which reminds me how behind I am...

Unfortunately I mostly read from the library and I don't want to spend too much time tracking the quotes on goodreads, but thanks for the input.

If you’re reading kindle books, your highlights are saved in your amazon account and will still be there after the library copy expires. It’s nice knowing they are there.

Unfortunately Amazon only authorises libraries in the US to load their books on Kindle (I still haven't understood why), so I read on my iPad and it doesn't store the quotes once the books are back at the library 😞

That is absolutely awful!!! I LOVE Kindle, solely because of the ability to highlight and save quotes!

You can download the Kindle App for iPad and then it will store the notes and automatically upload them to Goodreads. This is what I do, but I also keep a Onenote Notebook.

I do all of those and if I am being lazy, I write on phone notes, but if I'm not, I write on my book journal. I have one book journal which stores my TBR, book reads, currently reading, notes, fave quotes etc..
