How to do things on Goodreads!

I'm going to create a folder to explain how to do things on Goodreads. It will include instructions for highlighting texts, creating symbols, accessing series lists, creating spoiler features and more. But first, I thought I would ask what questions you have to ensure we start off with what's on your mind.

What are some "how to" things you'd like answered?

I have a couple of questions,
In the What are you reading section, how do you get the picture of the book cover to appear.

Sometimes when someone comments on something I've said, in the upper part of the comment box it will say, Maggie said" with my post". Down below that will be response. How do I post the comment I'm responding to.

If you click "reply" in the message box of the person you're responding to, Goodreads will include part of their message so they can follow your response to them, as I've done yours.

Maggie, do you know how to get the name of the book to appear?

In the upper right corner of the comment box (where you're typing your message), you'll see "add book/author." If you click on that (be sure to have your cursor positioned where you want the info to appear), you can search a book or author.

Click the tab for whichever you're interested. In this example, it defaults to book.

Type in the name of the book you're looking for and then click "Search." When your book appears, you can select "add" next to the title.

If you want the cover, select "cover" at the bottom instead of "link" before you select add for the title. It defaults to "link."

Try it here and see if the instructions are clear.

Where would I find authors names and their genes?

Author's names and their genres? Give me a little more context re your question.

When searching for authors, you can enter their names in the search field above. One of their books will appear and, after selecting it, you can then click on the author's name and his/her page will appear.

The apps are quite a different issue. There are so many limitations I gave up trying to use it.

I use the app for my phone, but when I want to make a comment that has an author or book I then go through the browser to Goodreads.

As a moderator and someone who regularly uses that feature, the browser is my only option. There's just too much I can't do using the app.
