First of all, thank you for feeling that you enjoyed my storytelling, that is a very important skill in the eyes of a reader, and I appreciate your willingness to read the next book.
The thing with this series, and especially the first book, is that it is intended to keep the mystery intact. The questions are valid and justified by the lack of information in the story, which as it happens is intentional.
The story picks up in the 2nd book where we left off in the 1st. And the 3rd book that is yet to be published concludes the opening trilogy of this series. Which means that you should expect things to clear up by the end of the third book, and not just yet.
I myself am a reader of fantasy books that preserve the mystery of the story and am satisfied to pace along the storytelling until things are revealed as chosen by the author. It's usually a journey worth taking.
I'm sorry for any confusion and/or frustration I caused. :)
Best,
Yannis
Yeah i loved the way it was told. I was never bored with your book. It was different, funny and most importantly it had interesting characters. The book was fast paced which i appreciated because some fantasy writers get lost in their own creations and it takes chapters to progress a story but somewhere in this book i got lost in a good way but lost. I will definitely read book 2 because i need answers. I think i know what is going on but i am not sure.

It's where Mr. Crow gives this kind of explanation to Mr. Scales. Give this scene another read if you like.
The series has been considered sophisticated by most of the readers who have enjoyed it so far. Which means that the reader has to pay attention to the best of his or her ability :)
