SOLVED: A place where all 4 seasons happen in one day [s]

About 15 years ago on a camping trip my sister was reading a book that from what she described was amazing. It was a paperback quite thick book with a dark maybe navy blue cover. She said it was scary, thriller, suspense. It's about a boy (man?) who gets transported to a place where a whole year happens in one day. I don't remember how this got scary, I guess people changing over time.
