I read a book in the 1980's. I believe it was called Astral Projection. I bought it as quite a slim paperback and the author had a lengthy name which may well have been indian/hindu or similar.
Unfortunately, lost. Had simple, step by step guide which included focussing on one's 'centre' and gaining out of body experience through total relaxation (from toes upwards through body) and minimising one's presence into a small focal point.
Confirmation that this book is still available would be good!

Hi,
That sounds like books from Lobsang Rampa. He has at least one (not all) talking about getting out of the body, travelling around, held to the body by an umbilical cord.
Can't help with the book name as I read a few from him 30 years ago and can't remember book names (and I read portuguese translations, anyway).
