SOLVED. Main Character: Female Chef that works that a gambling hall/brothel. [s]

I'm looking for a book that would be under the romance, fiction novel category. The setting is 1920's or 1930s New York. The main character is a female professionally trained chef name "Amenia" or something close to that. She works in a gambling hall/brothel house under this man namee "Kain" or "Cain" she's considered in a lower cast of society because of her dark skin (I think Italian background) she was estranged from both her parents in some way, considered a basterd child. She falls in love with a man that involved in high society and business, there's a large gap in social class between them. There's also a plot with "kain" bringing a girl to the brothel house that he is abusing and controlling, she is actually a run away from a rich and powerful family, I think her name is Sarah. I've been looking for this book for years now, if anyone can help me find it I cant even begin to tell you how much it would mean to me.

Sounds like Somebody To Love by Kate Rothwell. Main character is Araminta but she's not Italian, she's biracial black/white.
