Synopsis

Chpt 2 had Salome in the cat carrier :) Just got to that part & I couldn't help but laugh!

And am bummed we don't get Niko's POV in this one. But Catcher's? Interesting... I was wondering if/when Rafferty & Catcher would be back so happy to see that finally they are.

the thing with salome in the cat carrier is so good. and cal being scarred for life by learning where not-so-little revenants come from lol

the catcher pov is definitely interesting with regards to painting some interesting parallels between him and cal

this is maybe a chapter or two ahead of where you are but one of my favorite parts probably in the whole series is when delilah shows up and says that cal is 'like a mormon with the dirty talk' because i am like robin in that i am like REALLY CAL? although he's right really, it is totally different than all the regular cussing her does and he IS rather repressed but like ...still. cal. come on ;)

also the whole ish/robin and monogamy thing is the best. i'm always sitting here like come on robin, you looooooooove him

Haven't gotten to the revenant part yet (eww?) but that is so funny - I can't wait to get to that part! Just that line though "like a mormon with the dirty talk" has all sorts of things running thru my head. All hilarious as hell!

And Robin & Ish - I just can't. How these characters have evolved :P

i just love how every time delilah shows up she basically tells cal he's not that great at sex but then also wants to sleep with him. i'm like BUT WHAT IS THE TRUTH DELILAH

and robin and ish are just so great together. i watched the first three episodes of the good omens miniseries last night and my robin/ish and crowley/aziraphale feels are definitely getting all mixed up

Chpt 5 had so many funny moments. That scene with Delilah was even funnier in the book because she said it in front of Robin & Niko & the ribbing from Robin was awesome. But yea, it is hilarious that she's dissing his stamina & skills but yet keeps coming back. It's okay Cal, we know she doesn't really mean it!

And then Robin saying that Salome didn't kill humans because he sprays her with a water bottle. I was dying!!! ['ve used a water bottle before with my kitty so it was almost nostalgic :D

So I got distracted reading the fanfiction that got posted to Quantum Bang and I've just started reading and have only read up to chapter three but Sunday and Monday are my days off work so I will probably breeze through the rest of the book then.

I just wanted to chime in and say that I really loved Salome and the cat carrier scene and how it confirmed that that at is both awesome at monster killing and scary af. I also like Cal am deeply traumatized and could have gone without know how revenants are born.

Made it thru Chpt 9 last night -

Ugh Catcher. His story just breaks my heart. Love how he communicates with Rafferty (laptop), and his fight with Salome was funny. She was totally kicking his ass :D But what he asked of Cal? Was on the verge of tears. Seriously. Until he made the crack about how Cal smells.

Once again the author has created a villain that's even scarier. Have no idea how they could even come close to beating Suyolak, even with Rafferty's help. It's not like they could even be in the same vicinity! Have a feeling this is going to get CRAZY!

Gah just finished and holy crap that Epilogue hit me pretty hard.

(view spoiler)[Didn't expect it to get so emotional but that made me cry pretty hard. I knew Rafferty would always stick with Catcher no matter what. I just really wanted it to work out in the end, with Rafferty being able to change Catcher back to human/were rather than wolf. Wasn't at all surprised by his decision to go off & be a wolf with Catcher but I really wanted them in more books :( Could definitely see the parallels between Rafferty/Catcher & Niko/Cal which made it familiar, though Rafferty's guilt over changing Catcher made it a lot more sad.

Then there was Delilah *sigh* I didn't expect it to play out the way it did, with her setting them up with her Alpha/Kin wolves in the worst possible situation (while they were facing off with Suyolak). She got what she wanted (her Alpha's death) but what was that about shooting Catcher? She thought if she killed Catcher, Rafferty would change her & others? Why would she attempt that since she was almost fawning over Catcher for being pure wolf before? And geez, this will definitely change things between her & Cal. I don't like the idea of them being enemies...

Robin was just too cute with the monogamy issue with Ishiah. He likes to talk big but in the end, he's just a softie :D

And can't forget Cal's Auphe transformation. Wow. So does this mean at the end that Rafferty just healed the effects of that last gate, but the serotonin syndrome is still in place? So no more traveling for Cal? (hide spoiler)]

i also finished yesterday lol

what i love about the water bottle thing is like ...he says that he uses it IF she's attacking people so that means that she's already been attacking people and he's trying to get her to stop, not that she just doesn't do it at all. i can't even imagine how much robin's neighbors must hate him lol

and yeah the whole delilah thing (view spoiler)[makes me sad too. i mean obviously they were not ~in love~ or anything but i think they worked together in a weird way. also i'm just like come on rob, why are you breaking up all my couples or putting them 'on a break'? at least we still have robin and ish.

i also don't really understand why she thought killing catcher would help either. i mean ...a few days ago she was practically worshipping him and now she's ready to just kill him bc then she thinks rafferty will help her? i know she has blind spots but i don't think eve she is that stupid. i guess thurman just wanted a good way to kind of break them up, and while cal wouldn't have cared that much about her calling in her pack, when she points a gun at catcher he's pretty much done. Life got in the way so I have been reading but slowly.

I just finished chapter 9 and will still be reading more during my work shift. I should finish by tomorrow night. I’m up for continuing so let me know if the next book will fit with your letters

SO commenting on what I have read so far.

I feel so bad for Catcher and Raffety. Their family angst levels are just as high as Cal & Niko. I love the parallels of another co-dependent family dynamic. I can already tell that there is not happy ending in their future based just on what I read so far.(view spoiler)[ It’s so obvious that there is no cure for Catcher but Raffety is still in denial and refusing to give up is heartbreaking. And when Catcher asks Cal to make Raffety a part of their family after he’s gone so that Raffety won’t be alone because he know there’s no cure but still wants to make sure his family is taken care of. ˚‧º·(˚ ˃̣̣̥᷄⌓˂̣̣̥᷅ )‧º·˚ (hide spoiler)]

hahaha that's so true, he did say IF. (view spoiler)[At least Salome hasn't killed anyone. Yet. Well except for the Revenants but they don't count.

And I wanted to think that Cal at least felt something for Delilah. Definitely not love but thought she was not just a body to scratch that itch but there was at least a fondness or something. But this made me forget all about Niko & Promise from the last book. Damn you're right, why is she doing this to us?!?! I just really hope that Robin continues his relationship with Ishiah. At least one couple should be happy. (hide spoiler)]

Yes, that was heart-wrenching! And for Catcher to let Rafferty hold onto that hope just for a little longer. *sigh* Brings back the emotions!

ok i definitely need this book for the upcoming week because we got cinnamon and it has 3 N's in it so here comes niko to save the day lol i'm gonna request the thread for saturday again

and yes thurman just loves to hit us with the family angst. in a way catcher and rafferty are almost worse than cal and niko because raff feels like it's literally all his fault and catcher has a hard time articulating that he doesn't blame him since he can't really talk [i'm sure typing only gets so much across].

and i agree that cal did feel SOMETHING for delilah, even if it wasn't love. i think really he just appreciated that she was so comfortable being herself and also that she accepted him for who he was since a lot of people don't.

Yea, unfortunately some of the books I thought about reading for the genre (Memoirs) won't work with these letters :(

But at least T's are fairly easy - a ton of books start with The!

Ok so I finished reading the book and I really enjoyed this book.
I was right in that Catcher and Rafferty were not going to get a happy ending. (view spoiler)[ I was really sad that by the epilogue that shows Catcher has forgotten himself and completely gone wolf even though he still accepts Rafferty as kin. @Cathy Like you I wasn’t surprised by Rafferty’s choice to go off and be wolf with catcher but it was still heartbreaking.
On the other hand I wasn’t really surprised with Delilah setting them up to deal with her Alpha/Kin wolves but like Cal I thought it would happen after they got rid of Suyolak and not during the face off. It did fit in with her character. The whole shooting Catcher plan on the other hand didn’t seem to fit in for me on what we know of her though. I’m kind of curious how Delilah and Cal will go forward now that they both know the other won’t hesitate to kill the other if they have to. Like @Devann said Cal was okay with her using him to get rid of her Alpha and he didn’t much are about that cause he knew he could handle it but her trying to shoot Catcher was something he would not accept or forgive.
Cal's Auphe transformation was my favorite part of this book and I thought it was pretty awesome. Too bad it makes him too homicidal towards like everyone. Cause it would be cool if he could stay that badass all the time before becoming full on monster. It will be interesting to see the serotonin syndrome in the future and Cal struggling through it, because we know stuff is going to happen where he will need to gate. (hide spoiler)]

I think this is the first book where there wasn’t multiple bad guys or subplots running at the same time.

i think you're right about this one having the most straightforward plot. i guess there was kind of the subplot with delilah and her pack but it was really small so i'm like mmm does that really count lol

@Devann Yeah I didn’t consider Delilah and her pack a subplot since it was so intertwined with the main plot. It was like a half subplot. This was the most straightforward book so fatr and it didn’t suffer for it at all.

yeah i love the whole roadtrip concept especially with these characters because it's just suuuuuch a bad idea lol i mean sticking robin in a car with anyone for an extended amount of time is disastrous and then you throw rafferty and cal in there too and it's like oh NO. poor niko ;)

and i really like this one for the creepy horror movie moments as well. the scene at the house with the mom and the baby is so gross but so good
