book where hero heroine are 'IT 'for each other

looking for books where hero heroine are each other's one and only. What I mean is that even though they might not be together and their relationship might be on again off again but they are still faithful and in love throughout all this and even the secondary characters know that these guys are made for each other and will eventually end up together.
Basically others hitting on them doesn't matter, they are still a team even during the off time of their relationship .
any suggestions ? thanks
