Melindam | 8367 comments Cool. Time for me to continue the Kate Daniels series. ;)

message 352: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Us are tricky, though. But the Green Ladies are invincible.

message 353: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments U's are tricky but at least there's no repeating letters, that should help some. don't think i will be much help with shifters as i usually avoid books with werewolf main characters like the plague because i can't deal with all the ~alpha male~ crap lol

message 354: by Melindam (last edited Jul 10, 2019 09:43AM) (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I need to check if the books in one of my favourite sword&sourcery series (The Twelve Houses series by Sharon Shinn) could work for shifters.... no werewolves in sight. ;)

...

No joy! :( All books qualify as "shapeshifters" but not shifters.

I've got plenty of alpha-male shifter books (they aren't all wolves, either) and I love them, so it's all good!

message 356: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments Oh I'm glad some of you are shifter fans as they're really not my thing. I like horror werewolves, not so much the romancey kind :p

message 357: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I added the sentence from my book that has "roller coaster" in it to the spreadsheet if that's what you were waiting for before using it for the mini-challenge.

message 358: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I will read Magic Burns which will work for shifters + has a U character.

Thanks Joanne, I updated the mini-sheet.

message 360: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i found four books on my tbr with U title or series name, although two of them are kindle freebies so i'm unsure whether i will read those past the first few chapters lol but at least we've got a few options.

i was trying to think of U characters and all i could come up with was umbridge from harry potter, and although it would be good for the points and it is my favorite from the series, i don't think i can JUST read the fifth book by itself lol, my low level OCD would not allow it ;)

i think after i finish my two current books i am going to move onto books for next week, unless we need another option for one of the tricky words or another i or something [although both of my current ones work for i].

message 361: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Devann, we need another I, but from the planning sheet I see that we will have that covered, so move on if you like. :)

message 362: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'll have Renegades finished this afternoon and Wanderers finished in the morning - I'm camping but its just at my dads, so as long as my laptop cooperates I should be able to check them in properly.

I love an excuse to read shifters books :)

message 363: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments And oops - I see I forgot to check-in Sea of Monsters - I will do that right now. Sorry! I totally remember doing it, but must have dreamed it...

message 364: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments OK. So, Sandy, Suzanne & I can take the genre books & in return, Devann Joanne & Megan could look for Us. How do you like that deal, Greenies? :))

message 365: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Anyway, U is not the only letter, just the hard one, so no(t much) pressure. :D

message 366: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Seems good to me :)

message 367: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments I've got a U in my current book that I won't finish in time for this week :D It also has M, B, E and R too so it's a pretty good one!

message 368: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Yaay, Megan! Let's keep it for the next round, then.

message 369: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments just wanted to say that i edited in some pages/sentences for the words for the two books that i posted earlier today over in the books read thread

Hi beautiful green girls!!
Great job - we're on our 6th spell-out of our word and the only mini-challenge words we still need are Black Widow and White Woman, which I believe Suzanne is reading for (if not, let us know asap) - otherwise we've got our 25 words! We've also got all our genre books in - awesome!!!

Countdown Clock

Please post a note when you're done for this round - thanks!

message 372: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I'm done for this round. Got two planned out so far for next round, including one by a U author.

message 373: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments I'm done for this week

message 374: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'm going to check in my books now. And wow - nice job everyone!

message 375: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Ok I'm all checked in. I won't read any more for this weeks list.

message 376: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I am also done. Will start on Kate Daniels now. :)

Great Job, Green Ladies!

Mini and Genre books are complete. We have 6 complete spell-outs + 1 incomplete.

Joanne/Devann/Suzanne and me are checked in.

Sandy, as soon as you and Megan are done, we can report this week as completed.

message 378: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments I'll save mine for next week now so I'm done for this week :D

message 379: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments woo! that mini-challenge was fun but i'm glad to go back to a regular spell it out for this week. i wonder if there will be another 'surprise' before the challenge is over lol

message 380: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Happy Saturday! Does anyone have fun plans for the weekend?

We've had a really mild summer so far here in SoCal, but it's going to get hot today! I bought an above-ground pool that my brother is going to set up this weekend. Of course, my 8-year-old nephew will be monopolizing it. 😎

FYI - there is another BOM set to start on 22 July:
This is How It Always Is by Laurie Frankel

If you want to volunteer to write DQ's for extra team points here is the link:

message 382: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments 8) Sounds cool, Sandy. We are having a refreshingly cool spell for the time being, which I don't mind at all.

message 383: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I am having a quiet weekend ... LITERALLY. I have vocal chord inflammation and can't speak above a whisper. So reading is an obvious choice. :)

Oooooh, this book is on my tbr!

message 385: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I hope everyone had a great weekend!

I'm home from camping - it was fun but everything is still a mess. I'm still babysitting the two grandkids (day 10), and they sure aren't getting along with each other as well as they were :) One of them is sick too, which doesn't help. AND my dad really really wanted a dog (my mother passed away about 6 weeks ago), but he needs me to train it. So I have a 7 week old mastiff puppy here - he's good for a puppy but aaaah housebreaking! Anyway, I haven't read much, but I'll get at least the books I put on the spreadsheet done - and hopefully a few more.

message 386: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Wow, Suzanne. That's quite a lot to have on your plate. No worries & try to take care of yourself as well.

message 387: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Oh thank you! I keep thinking 'life will calm down tomorrow". Well and TOMORROW it may actually calm a bit as one of the kids is getting picked up by his other grandma :)

message 388: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Small mercies and all that.

message 389: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Wow, Suzanne - you've got a lot on your plate. And I'm so sorry about your mother's passing. 💔

Sorry I've been absent for a couple of days - my brother is doing work around my house and I've been helping and not on the computer. I do have several books I've finished and I'll post them tomorrow. I hope everyone is doing good and enjoying your books!!!

message 390: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Thanks Sandy!

I realized that the next Innkeeper book was released today (I had it preordered - and I think Melindam has already read it). Anyway, it has the shifter tag, and I'm sure that it will compel me to read it. I would LOVE to be an innkeeper :)

message 391: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments The Innkeeper is my favourite IA series + Hidden Legacy. :)

message 392: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments How's everybody doing? I'm slowly getting my house back to order and getting rid of lots of junk that accumulated in closets and drawers! Thank goodness for audiobooks that I can listen to while cleaning/sorting!

I hope your day is calmer, @Suzanne!

message 393: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i only ended up reading one of my U books and deleting the rest of them [#oops] but i'm listening to a shifter book right now [thank you, one random person who tagged it]. definitely getting into another slump but trying to power through it lol

message 394: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I will post my books tomorrow morning. I have finished another shifter book "On the edge" + will finish Kate Daniels Book 4.

message 395: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Just started the BOM Dry. Is this book tagged "horror"? Because it should be. I feel like I'm going to have a panic attack reading it.

message 396: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I agree - its scary because its so plausible.

message 397: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Definitely makes me happy to live in a country with 60% of the world's lakes.

message 398: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Thanks for reading this, @Joanne! The combinations of genres isn't something I could struggle through, so I appreciate you taking one for the team. And living in southern California, which recently just got out of a long drought, I don't think I'd enjoy this at all! :-)

It may hit a bit too close to home for you in that case. It was already on my tbr, so I just moved it up in priority for the extra points.

Hey Greenies!

We spelled out UMBER twice and started on the 3rd round.
We've also read 5 genre books already.

description

Our Genre for next week is once again CINNAMON = LGBT.

Please let us know if you are OK with it or would like a ReSpin. We have to notify the Mods about it until tomorrow, 5pm UK time.

I currently I have only 1 LGBT book to use for genre points, but if the majority is for it, I am happy to go with the flow.
