Suzanne | 5417 comments I have 3 genre books I'll finish for sure. I guess then we can see where we are at because I could probably switch one of my other books to a genre too - I have so much space opera :)

message 502: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Thanks Suzanne !

message 503: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i think i will probably do another one, and i think we have 8 on the sheet right now so as long as everyone gets done we should probably be good

message 504: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Thanks Devann!

message 505: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I will definitely finish The Hitchhikers Guide, but as it is over 800 pages, I don't think I will manage before Friday.
@Sandy - thanks. We are having a lovely time.

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments [stands around nervously after reading the chipmunk announcement] what's our wooooooooooooord lol

message 507: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments According to the spreadsheet our word is QUERCUS with a genre of SPORTS
Absolutely terrible all round!!

message 508: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments hahaha what the actual hell

message 509: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Oh wow - lol that is quite awful!

message 510: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Briefly checking - I have 3 Sports books that I could do - one C, one E and one U.

After that ?? I have lots of U and Q titles and could read for those letters. Or I can look for more sports. Its just not a genre I like.
.

message 511: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Good morning ladies! Well, I'm not a fan of our word (although it's nice to get a S for a change!), that's for sure. But I do like sports romances, so I can definitely help out there! Unfortunately, there are no re-spins for this last week. I'll get the planning sheet set up a bit later today.

message 512: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments Unseen Academicals (Discworld, #37; Rincewind #8) by Terry Pratchett - Sports on the first page of tags and a U title - Sir Terry saves us again!

message 513: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Oh no. No respins? I was going to suggest that we do a respin nexxt round no matter what word we got, just for the fun of it. Well I guess I'll have to look for U books now.

message 514: by Joanne (new)

Joanne AND I'm currently reading a long book that works for O and I, which I thought would be useful. Now I guess I will have to try to finish this week.

message 515: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Joanne wrote: "Oh no. No respins? I was going to suggest that we do a respin nexxt round no matter what word we got, just for the fun of it. Well I guess I'll have to look for U books now."

I was thinking the same thing, Joanne. Oh well......

message 516: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I'm glad you like sports romances! Then I can focus on my horse racing sports books and switch over to whatever letters we need :) Phew.

And nice find Megan - that's awesome - I bow to Terry Pratchett.

message 517: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i can glance at my tbr but i genuinely don't think i have anything that would have sports as a top genre. i know i have a few Q books and probably a few U ones as well so i don't forsee the letters really being a problem, but i am just bored to death by anything mildly sports related lol

message 518: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I haven't read Dick Francis for awhile, so I'll read his "U" book. Then I want to read Seabiscuit, and it works for another challenge, so I will read that. Lol so all my sports are basically mysteries or animal books :)

message 519: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I have a Q book , though it's not genre. Can someone check if Jilly Cooper's book, POLO or RIDERS would do for sports? (cannot do it from my phone). I could do both. If not, I can also follow Megan's example & read Unseen Academicals.

message 520: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I wasn't chosen for DQs for GOOD OMENS, but I will answer them for BOM points.

message 521: by Megan (new)

You're good for both Polo and Riders for sports :D

message 522: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments I'm so annoyed that I only read Good Omens a couple of weeks ago!

message 523: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Was it before the start of the challenge or after? If after, you can participate!

message 524: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i remember seeing it on the sheet one week for the challenge so she should be good for answering the questions. i'm planning on reading it as well, even though i literally just read it again last year lol

message 525: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments Oh amazing! I will definitely answer the questions then for the BOM :D

message 526: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Both Polo (Rutshire Chronicles #3) by Jilly Cooper and Riders (Rutshire Chronicles, #1) by Jilly Cooper work for sports and both are easy reads+doorstoppers (over 750/900 pages) so I will read them for the next round. I will also try & squeeze in Unseen Academicals

message 527: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Thanks Megan for checking!!!

message 528: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Sigh.....my copy of Daisy Jones & the Six finally came in from Overdrive and I don't have time to read it before tomorrow. I was really hoping I'd get it in time to use for BOM points!

The Jilly Cooper books look fun, @Melinda - I'll have to see if any are available on Overdrive.

message 529: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments hey i was just looking at the team status spreadsheet and none of our points for week 7 are showing up, might want to check with the mods and see if it's a glitch.

message 530: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments No glitch - I haven't added our books to the official spreadsheet yet - I'll do it later today.

message 531: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Aw thats too bad about the timing Sandy - kind of Murphy's law!

I finished 2 genre books that I will check in right now. I'll have the 3rd I put on the spreadsheet done tomorrow morning. I may have other books done too, but all my space opera books are 400 or 500 pages so we'll see :)

message 532: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments I did find This is How it Always Is at the library when I picked up Illuminae, so I'll at least get that BOM done.

I'll get everything updated in a bit - I'm trying to finish my other space opera book right now, and then we can see what we still need.

message 533: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments @Sandy good to know! i haven't been paying the most attention to the challenge status sheet so i thought it just automatically updated as you added them to the finished books on our own person sheet and i was like nooo where are our points??? lol

message 534: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments Sandy, could you add my Hitchhiker's book to the completed ones? I have just finished. Many thanks.

message 535: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments Wow nice job - that was a long book!

message 536: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Got it @Melinda - great job!!!!

message 537: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments It was a bit of a chore, but I did it finally. :D

message 538: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I will finish Beholder's Eye (genre) and Nevermore: The Trials of Morrigan Crow (not genre) before the deadline. I don't have Nevermore on the spreadsheet yet, but i'll get it there.

My other two on the spreadsheet will either wait til next week or til after the challenge :)

message 539: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments I'm checking in for this week.

message 540: by Megan (new)

Megan (meganraex) | 1031 comments I'm going to check in too and save this one for next week as it has a handy Q character in it

message 541: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments i just posted my last one so i'm done for this week

message 542: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Thanks for the updates everyone!! I have one more book I"m working on.

Sadly, Melinda and I belatedly realized her Hitchhiker book was actually a bundle, so we have to use the individual books and their lower points rather than the book as a whole. I still give huge kudos to Melinda for taking this on - she's my hero for the week (and maybe the month!)

message 543: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I agree - Melinda you are a hero!

message 544: by Melindam (new)

Melindam | 8367 comments You know the saying about the good intentions and the road to hell.... *SIGH*
Anyway, I started reading POLO, which IS a single book.

message 545: by Joanne (new)

Joanne I'm going to finish Hexed but I'll have to move A Prayer for Owen Meant to next week.

message 546: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments I just realized the book I'm trying to finish starts with U, so I'm going to put off finishing that until after this round ends since we'll need them.

Countdown Clock

message 547: by Suzanne (new)

Suzanne | 5417 comments I finished and checked in my last two books for this week.

message 548: by Dev (new)

Dev (lumensuperbis) | 2778 comments looking through my tbr and this week is gonna be rough lol. i have one Q book and no U ones. weirdly enough i seem to have several Z books, the only time i would ever say this but why couldn't we have gotten a Z word ;)

message 549: by Joanne (new)

Joanne Done my last book

message 550: by SandyL (new)

SandyL | 4747 comments Got it - thanks Joanne! I'm checking us in now.
