message 54: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 839 comments I performed my best imitation of the gypsy dance, which, to a passerby, might look like I was

Liam || Books 'n Beards (madbird) riding a bucking tiger through a field of thumbtacks.

gathering feather organiceden | 86 comments One of the gypsies notices my awkward dance but seems to admire my efforts. She slowly walks toward Alfred and I.

With a flash of light and sudden puff of smoke, I used the last of my magic energy to reduce the cursed umbrella to a pile of ash - but what was Alfred's thimble doing?

message 62: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 839 comments The thimble was becoming a pool of molten metal before my eyes. Its silver liquid seemed to multiply, and soon there was a

Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 839 comments But I now realised that destroying the umbrella was somewhat premature.

Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 839 comments The cheesy goodness was tempting, but instead I trusted my instinct and used a favourite old spell (taught to me by my mother) to

gathering feather organiceden | 86 comments conjure up peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for Alfred and I.

gathering feather organiceden | 86 comments How will I ever find out the part he plays in all this?

Sally906 | 91 comments It was at this point that I realised I was out in the open air with an ominously significant storm almost on top of me with a metal thimble that would attract lightening! No sooner had I though this there was a loud crack directly over my head and as if it was being filmed in slow motion a bolt of lightning started heading down towards me....

MaryG2E (goodreadscommaryg2e) | 934 comments Thank Goodness I was wearing my rubber boots...

gathering feather organiceden | 86 comments Ah! But Alfred! Where was he?? Sometime in the turmoil I'd let go of his hand (probably to avoid the sticky sandwich goo).
KABOOM!

gathering feather organiceden | 86 comments The next thing I knew Alfred was no where to be found! My boots were overflowing with perspiration and the umbrella had completely collapsed! As for the thimble

Sally906 | 91 comments There was a herd of cows sitting on branches of a nearby apple trees in an orchard mooing mournfully.

How odd I thought until I turned around and saw that there were some pigs...

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3571 comments polka dotted pigs with hints of wings. I was reminded of that old adage that states 'When pigs fly' and wondered whether they could actually fly, and if so, what a polka dotted flying pig might look like.

Marianne (cloggiedownunder) | 10005 comments bucket, as I was getting thirsty and thought I might be able to milk a low-hanging cow.

message 90: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 | 91 comments The passerby was shocked to his core over the bucket request and fumbled around his belt. Hanging off the belt were three whistles - red, blue and yellow - he selected the red one and lifted it to his lips and gave an almighty whistle. I heard a rumble from the other side of the hill and as I wondered what might be causing the rumble I couldn't help wonder (as well) what the blue and yellow whistles did.

message 91: by Leonie (new)

Leonie (leonierogers) | 3571 comments An enormous, red waxed, wheel of cheese heaved itself over the crest of the hill and bore down upon me!

Sally906 | 91 comments Quickly grabbed two pieces of bread out of my back pack and slapped the big cheese wheel between them.

To my utter shock the cheese wheel started to talk...was a bit muffled so I removed one of the bread slices fairly certain a cheese sand which wasn't in my immediate future..

message 95: by Valerie (new)

Valerie (nicehotcupoftea) | 839 comments And indeed, hidden under the cheese wheel, was the thimble. Luckily my teeth were still intact! I instinctively felt that the thimble had something to do with the blue whistle so I

gathering feather organiceden | 86 comments Asked it, 'what was it you just said?'

message 97: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Brown | 44 comments "I said... Please don't eat me!"
I was so surprised, I fell down flat on my bottom.
"Well, no of course not!" I couldn't very well eat something that was talking to me.
"Oh thankyou, thankyou! And in return, for your kind heart I offer you 3 magical wishes..."
I thought very hard, and then replied...

gathering feather organiceden | 86 comments 'Well, first I'd like Alfred to go back home! Then for my second wish

message 99: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Brown | 44 comments "Now thats just greedy!" the cheese chided, "and for being so greedy, you loose your second wish". I felt abashed, and so thought very carefully before making my last wish...
