Marielle | 15 comments I'm currently merging

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...

into

https://www.goodreads.com/author/show... as his name with the A. is how it's written on his Twitter, and also more specific is better.

However the name without the middle initial has 20 followers, and the one without 4 - when I move it over entirely what happens to those followers/ the profile? Is there anyway to merge these in a better way than just fixing the name in the books?

lethe | 16359 comments Since neither is a claimed profile, you can change the Zed Shaw author profile to Zed A. Shaw (click the 'edit data' link on the right-hand side: https://www.goodreads.com/author/show...).

The system will then tell you that it has found an existing author, Zed A. Shaw, and asks whether you would like to merge. If you click yes, the merge will go through and the books and followers added to Zed A. Shaw.

(Only if one is a claimed profile or not all the books on the to-be-merged profile belong to the same author, is it necessary to change the name on the books themselves.)
