It's June so we are excited to read this new pick, Dark Places, by Gillian Flynn who wrote Gone Girl! Let us know who is joining this month's read, why you're interested in the book, what you think of the first few chapters, your hopes for the story, etc. It will still be a NO SPOILER ZONE. On June 15th we will post the open discussion!

Happy Reading!

Katelyn R. (katelynhope) | 46 comments I definitely plan on reading this novel this month! I really liked the concept of Gone Girl so I hope this story holds up to it. I am a little bit behind on my reading though so I will have to post my first impressions a little later. I loved Lady Midnight that we read a few months ago so I’m reading the sequel right now because I had to see what happened lol I’m almost done though and then I’ll start Dark Places!

Katelyn R. (katelynhope) | 46 comments Ok ahhh I’m so behind lol but I did want to come back and give my first impression now that I’ve actually gotten a little ways into the book. It is SO dark. Which I’m not sure why I’m surprised by that since it’s called Dark Places 😂 it’s not really that the story is super dark but more of the main character Libby. So far to me she is just super unlikeable because she just takes advantage of everyone and steals from everyone and is an all around lazy pitiful person! Half of the things she says makes me think that she was the killer, even though that’s likely not the case. Even though it’s dark and kind of a slow buildup (I have trouble getting through Penny’s sections) it is nice to see different points of view leading up to the murders and I am constantly changing my opinion on who I think did it! Lol
