Well [book:Lolita is about love that one man has. Love is passion.
I would like to nominate A Place for Us. This book is about an immigrant family's struggle between a passion for their home country and their children's passion for their American life. It's about a family's struggle, which certainly involves passion.
I nominate Wuthering Heights because it's very much about Heathcliff's undying passion and obsession for Catherine.
Emma wrote: "I would like to nominate The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater"Great nominations everyone!
Emma, could you also state a connection to the theme?
Oops sorry IIonaI would like to nominate Say You're Sorry by Melinda Leigh because the book is about a DA named Morgan Dane and an ex-cop named Lance Kruger who are trying to solve a murder case
Donna wrote: "I would like to nominate Possession by A.S. Byatt"Thank you for the nomination, Donna. Would you please share how the book is related to the theme of "Passion"?
I nominate Binti by Nnedi Okorafor. It's the story of a woman who has such a passion to learn that she gives up everything and faces push back from those who don't believe she deserves to be at the University.
Ziggy wrote: "I’m going to interpret passion a bit differently....I nominate Barbarian Days: A Surfing Life I’m not sure if there is romance but it seems like there is a passion for surfing."I love that! Thank you for your nomination ^^
I would like to nominate Courting Mr. Lincoln by Louis Bayard.“ From the prizewinning author of Mr. Timothy and The Pale Blue Eye comes Courting Mr. Lincoln, the page-turning and surprising story of a young Abraham Lincoln and the two people who loved him best: a sparky, marriageable Mary Todd and Lincoln’s best friend, Joshua Speed.”
Where there is courting there should be passion.... :)
I just posted this book in the Buddy Read thread, but realized that it would also fit the theme for AugustCity of Girls by Elizabeth Gilbert
Connection to the theme:
"A breezy, entertaining read — and really, something better: a lively, effervescent, and sexy portrait of a woman living in a golden time… Passion, Gilbert never tires of informing us, that’s the stuff of life. Not money, not the Darwinian struggle for survival, certainly not the family you are born with — passion is our raison d’etre. It’s what makes us feel we are rocketing through the streets of New York City during the best days of our lives.” - NMR

This thread will be closed by June 26th, and we will choose ten books for the poll. If there are more than ten books nominated, we will choose the ten most nominated. If there is still a tie to get into the top ten, we'll go back to the Goodreads average rating to see which is highest
