Leslie | 73 comments Did anyone see it? It's actually on this blog http://watch-trueblood-online.blogspo...

I actually didn't mind that version of Tara. I find her character so annoying i think Kerr's portrayal of her was less annoying.
Also in the scene where Bill was being drained and the girl that was watching them from the forest, you think that was suppose to be Claudine? I know she doesn't show up in the books until much later but as we know the show doesn't exactly follow the books.

Thanks!

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments Wow! I thought that Tara was more annoying. That actress was so wooden with the dialogue; she negatively affected every scene she was in. The scene where Tara and Lafayette interact behind the bar - ugh! It was terrible!!! And that was one of the best scenes in the first episode!

The soundtrack - from (most of) the music to peoples' thoughts and other sound effects, was just weird...and wrong.

Anna Paquin was a bit off in her first conversation as Sookie with Stephen Moyer as Bill, but every interaction after that was pretty much dead on.

That woman in the woods had to be Claudine! Who was that actress?

It's obvious that a few of the special effects were added after the fact. LOL!

Shannon (theholyterror) Oh, I forgot I watched this when it leaked! I was so glad they switched Tara, the old one was terrible. And yeah, the lady in the woods wasn't in the final version and I have to say I thought she might've been Claudine too.

I agree! I like our Tara, her accent sounds better and she just is Tara. That girl comes off as acting and saying lines. A lot of people think Tara is really annoying, but dang she's just got lots of issues! :) I like her and think she's much better this season anyway. The first season was hard to deal with because everything was racist and that is what annoyed me.

Ditto, Im sorry that it happened but we learn from our mistakes. she has a lot of anger for something that didnt even happen to her personally.

Cary (vortigern) The woman in in woods could have been the Maenad Marryanne. Claudine I don't remember real well until Club Dead I think or maybe even Dead to the World. But the Maenad is in book one. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong. It's been awhile since I read the books. However the womans eyes in the woods kinda looked like Michelle Forbes. I was looking closley at pictures of Michelle and then at the eyes of the girl in the woods.

message 8: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 193 comments We didn't have HBO for the first 2 episodes, so this is the version of the pilot we watched off the web. I'll have to see if they have the aired version on demand still!

As for the Tara change, I hardly noticed the actress change. That is to say, once they put Rutina Wesley on screen I totaly forgot all about the other Tara ever existing.

The girl in the woods had blue eyes, though. Right? Maryann's - or rather, Michelle Forbes' eyes are brown. Plus, I don't think the maenad showed up in the first book; in the show, she appears toward the end of the first season, but I'm pretty sure that the first time we see her in the series is when she attacks Sookie in Living Dead in Dallas.

Allison (helloarkansas) | 158 comments Wow that Tara was BADDDDDDDD.

message 11: by Cassidy (new)

Cassidy Savage (savagegy6) Oh geez, all these discussions about what did or didn't happen in the books makes me want to re-read them! But I have so many on my book shelf that I haven't touched yet and that just seems wrong. I think I'll save reading them for before the next season starts. *le sigh*

message 12: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Hm I forgot to look at the color of the eyes it was all so fast. Definitly a lot of fun to whatch. I definitly need to go back over the books again.

I thought this might be Maryann as well, only because we're in the 2nd season now and she has been introduced into the show and Claudine has not. Also the outfit she was wearing seemed like something Maryann would wear.

My other thought is maybe this was another vamp watching over Bill and when she saw Sookie she backed off b/c he was supposed to meet Sookie? Probably not but if they end up saying Bill was sent this could work.

I'm SO happy they switched Tara- that poor girl just wasn't believable. She had terrible delivery and just isn't believable as that character. Not enough anger.

message 14: by Cary (last edited Aug 25, 2009 06:38PM) (new)

Cary (vortigern) I am just not Satisfied with either one of the Tara's. I guess it has to do with Tara in the books beeing white and from a white middle class disfunctional family. Not poor and black and unable to keep a job. In the books Tara is a sharp white buisness woman who knows how to take care of hereself. She runs her own buisness. Taras Togs, and is quite independant. It's really funy that Taras Togs is in Bills strip mall. Bill owner of a cheesy strip mall. To freaking much. So the book Tara is the exact opposite of what TV Tara is like. TV Tara comes from a poor black bacground ,with an alocholic Mom, and pics very sketchy men to hang with, and has a drag queen for a cousin. I love the hell out of Lafayette. They just got the wrong Tara.

After the Season 2 Finale...it makes sense that the girl in the woods is Claudine. Remember when Maryann asked Sookie if she ever felt like someone was watching over her then Sookie flashbacked to throwing that chain? I think it's Ball's way of bringing in the fairies. Even though that girl in the woods was not in the aired 1st ep....

message 16: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Yup I bet your right. It sure wasn't Marryanne. So it has to be Claudine. :)

message 17: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments I'm glad someone else noticed that. I think it was Claudine, too. I wonder if she'll be in the next season.

message 18: by Kenna (new)

Kenna (kennas) I took some screen caps since she moves so quickly. Just click on the thumb to get a bigger picture.

Most deff not the MaryAnn that we know they used. If it was to have been the maenad maybe they changed Maryanns like they did Taras.

Guess well find out in 9ish months.

message 19: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) I think so because of the way Marryanne said. "Don't you think someone is watching over you?" Sookie says yeah God is watching over me. Marryanne says "No its somebody other than God. Think about it Sookie." Or something simiar to that is what Marryann said. Just before she finally freaking died. Hooh ray!

Leslie | 73 comments thanks for the screencaps Kenna!

message 21: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (emoonae) | 225 comments I suppose it could go either way, but if that mysterious actress was "pilot Maryann", I feel like she should have targeted Sookie as a person of interest sooner than she did.

On the other hand, that part of the scene wasn't in the finished pilot, so it's possible that it was Maryann and they just didn't want to introduce the character too soon.

Or maybe they cast that actress at first, then had an opportunity to get Michelle Forbes later, and that's why that part of the scene was cut.

I don't know, but that flashback bit was confusing. Either they were connecting Maryann to that scene or they were foreshadowing the introduction of Claudine into the show.

On the other hand, maybe it was just Sookie's way of remembering a time she felt like someone was watching over her, and that's all it was.

Just call me Tevye. ;-)

message 22: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) I liked the Tara in the pilot. I thought she was allot cuter. Neither of them was anything like the Tara in the book. Sookie and Tara being best freinds in TrueBlood is so very unconvincing.

message 23: by Meg (new)

Meg Myers (megmyersyahoocom) | 29 comments I dont know about tara and sookies bestfriend/trueblood being unconvincing. I actually would say that i believe it more show wise than book. In the book it was like her and tara were so close in high school "sexy dance from high school" from club dead. They live in the same town... so why wouldnt she be more close to tara.. its not like the town has a over two resturants in it. The show gave it more of a realistic vibe for me... tara seeing sookie... the pics of them as kids.. flashbacks ect

message 24: by Cary (new)

Cary (vortigern) Well in life people drift appart. People who were real good friends in highshcool may not like each other much in later life. Even become enemies in later life. That is real world. : )

totally agree! i like our tara better. BTW, (by the way) that tara on the pilot episode played whitney on a soap opera on NBC called Passions.

message 26: by Angela (new)

Angela (angbens) This is the first episode that I actually saw. I watched them online about 1/2 through the series. So when I saw the second episode, I wasn't sure who Tara was since it was a different actress. Since then, I have gotten HBO and don't have to watch it online.

message 27: by Shanel (new)

Shanel | 10 comments Yea thank god for HBO!! Especially On Demand!
