Samyann | 23 comments How, and is it permissible, to include a Kirkus quote somewhere in your book description?

Thanks!

message 2: by Emily (new)

Emily | 17614 comments Sorry, reviews are not allowed in the book descriptions. As we notice any we delete them.

lethe | 16360 comments No, praise quotes and review quotes are not allowed in book descriptions.

Samyann | 23 comments Don't want to offend anyone, so just want to be clear.

Editorial Reviews like Kirkus are not permitted anywhere on Goodreads?

Correct?

message 5: by Miriam (new)

Miriam | 1831 comments Editorial Reviews do not belong in the book blurb. If you did want to add them, there are some options (Per Rivka - Staff Member)

Authors have a few options:
* Quote them in their own review space (obviously making clear that this is a quite from another source) for the book
* Add them to your bio section on your author page
* Add a blog post with them

Samyann | 23 comments As an avid reader and contributor of content to Goodreads for over 8 years, see my profile, there are over 600 ratings, over 500 text reviews, this policy isn’t very user friendly, to reader nor author.

Reader perspective: It would be nice to see editorial reviews such as Kirkus, BookViral, ReaderFavorite, etc. in a book listing. I SAY THIS AS A READER, not a writer.

Yes, I am an author. Yes, I have a Kirkus review. Yes, it would be nice if there was a convenient way to let it be known without blowing my own horn creating my own review. That’s awkward.

So there … IMO, shoot me.

Sandra | 31494 comments As a reader & librarian I dislike Kirkus & other paid reviews, I prefer other readers' reviews, especially readers I know.

I'm forever removing praise & paid reviews from book descriptions.

message 8: by Scott (new)

Scott | 9167 comments As I reader I do not like seeing blurbs in the description. If I am looking in that space I want to see only the teaser text from the back cover or jacket flap. Hype from reviews or persons of note are worthless to me (as they are on the book itself.)

I agree completely, they should NOT be part of the description. But, as a reader, I would like to see these types of reviews, without them disappearing into the ethos somewhere they can't be found. There isn't even a way to search for them, that I know of.

But, it is what it is, so .....
