I read this book as a child in the early 2000s, it is about this child who goes to a lake and meets a lake creature. But, she does not know what to call it and initially, the lake creature is hesitant about being friends. I remember once page where the lake thing is beneath a dock. PLS HELP THANK YOU!!!!

it was big and kinda fish as it lived in the lake but it was a monster and could walk, all take place at the lake
the cover was like this green murky thing with the girl looking at the creature
it wasn't realistic it was just a picture book for kids and not a series
i remembered a page when they make mud pies together
