I like the idea!I am going to read Suttree by Cormac McCarthy. He is one of my all time fave authors.People rave about the book.I have no idea why I haven't finished it :(
I'm currently reading Dark Emu
which is a scholarly but very readable book, demonstrating that the Aborigines in Australia had sizeable agricultural settlements, feeding up to 500 people on stored grains. They cultivated yams in the north, rice in coastal swamps and grain across the central plains. When the settlers came, their grazing animals gravitated unerringly to the nice scent of food and ate down the yams and grains in five or six years, whereupon the continent desertified.
So I am glad to get this book off the TBR pile and I recommend it to any reader. I am seeing a lot that is new to me, including the photos.
From today's Irish Times : Travelling in a Strange Land by David Park has won the €15,000 Kerry Group Irish Novel of the Year at the 49th Listowel Writers’ Week. :)

I’m reading “Travelling in a Strange Land” by David Park. It’s been in my tbr pile for a wee while so this is a fine reason to get into it!
I just finished it Sunday and my book club was Monday night. We had the biggest turnout ever with 10 people. Overall was it a big hit with everyone. I found it incredibly moving. I have never read a novel from a father's point of view that was so full of love, and guilt. I haven't written up my review yet but will have to do so.
