Ann Frost I read this book in Feb. 2019 it is a bit older though. The main event is a man "kidnaps" his ex-girlfriend's son. The story gets told by his psychiatrist, the ex-girlfriend, her husband, the husband's prostitute mistress (who is also the GF of the man who takes the boy), a work colleague of the husband, and maybe others? The psychiatrist is politically active around national health care and there is a plot line about whether some legislation will get passed and make owners of private clinics very rich. There is a scene when the man who takes the boy rescues the boy after he falls into a swimming pool (but no one sees the man make the rescue). Set in Australia. The title of the book is part of a quotation that comes from a philosopher (I think??) and the quotation appears in the novel. Any help is much appreciated!
