House of Leaves
question
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF IT?
I really cannot say enough good things about this book. It started for me, when my brother was trying to tell me what it's about, that my fascination began. Upon reading it, and having additional discussions, I still think about this book quite often. The fact that it really encompasses so much, and is so dense, is an impressive, creative accomplishment. Weird as all hell, too.

I feel the same way. I absolutely love this book and it has actually made its way on my "to read" list for the third time. It's a good book to read around Halloween. I completely understand how some people dislike it though. . .I think it's either a love it or hate it book.
I find it incredibly creative and addictive. Can't wait to read it again.
I wonder if not knowing anything about this book before reading it adds to its creepiness? I picked it up out of curiosity and had no idea what a mind trip it was going to be. I absolutely love this book and it is one of my favorites. I love that I had no idea what I was getting into when I read it. To this day, the very idea of that house gives me goosebumps.
I'm sorry to say that i thought it was utter rubbish!
It's very original, there's no other book like it. It's the ultimate meta-text.
Even if you don't *enjoy* it, you have to at least respect it.

I would say that it has some incredibly creepy parts, and I enjoyed the lengths it went to make it seem like there actually was a very dry boring paper on something that is actually incredibly creepy
But truthfully I think that the main character (did he have a name?) could have been a little more interesting and/or likeable and I'd probably have liked it a lot more without the weirdass sex scenes

This is one of the most satisfying endings I have read. The novel itself has some serious flaws, particularly with character, but makes up for it with an ending that's both surprising and fitting.
I am not gonna lie when I say I freaked out. I have read long books before, but because it was a story within a story within a story it felt like the inside was growing but the outside stayed the same...like the house. And I will proudly admit I cried because of it. XD
